C&I Weekly Curricular
December 17, 2025

Hello Tiger Nation!
We just wanted to take a moment to tell you how much we appreciate all your hard work and dedication to our students. As C&I visited classrooms across the district for our Semester 1 Learning Walks, we saw some very exciting and engaging learning opportunities for our students. We hope you all have a wonderful and restful Winter Break! See you in January!
The Superintendent's Winter Reading Challenge
Read! Read! Read!
Encourage our students to independently read over Winter Break and through the months of January and February. As students complete a book, they get a raffle ticket to put into a box for smaller prizes, and a grand prize drawing, provided by Superintendent Kirby. The more students read, the more chances they have to win! The challenge will run Winter Break through February 27, 2026!
Elementary School
What: Read as many books as you like. Get the Elementary Reading Challenge Snowflakes sheet from your teacher and color in a snowflake for every book you read. Be sure to include the title of the book, and write or draw a picture answering the prompt, “I liked this book because…” Also be sure to put your name and your teacher’s name on the sheet.
Raffle: The first week of March, we will pull names to give out prizes from the raffle box. All students’ names will then be combined the first week of March to pull for our grand prize winner.
Middle School
What: Read a book. When you have finished the book, complete a rectangle on the Middle School Reading Challenge Snowflake sheet. Hand that sheet into the media specialist in your building. When you hand it in, the media specialist will give you a ticket to write your name on. Write your name and put it in the box.
Raffle: The first week of March, we will pull names to give out prizes from the raffle box. All students’ names will then be combined the first week of March to pull for our grand prize winner.
High School
What: Go to the library and get a Reading Challenge sheet from the librarians, or download and print it for yourself. When you are finished reading a book, complete the sheet and librarians and they will give you a ticket for you to write your name on. Write your name on the ticket and give it to the librarian to put in the box.
Raffle: The first week of March, we will pull names to give out prizes from the raffle box. All students’ names will then be combined the first week of March to pull for our grand prize winner.
Encourage all students to participate and remember, the more they read, the more chances they have to win the grand prizes!!!!
MLK Celebration - Cleveland Heights is Seeking Student Submissions
Please encourage your students to participate!
This year, we're joining with The King Center, a nonprofit dedicated to ensuring that the King legacy not only remains relevant and viable, but is effectively leveraged for positive social impact.
The King Center's 2026 theme is: Mission Possible II: Building Community, Uniting a Nation the Nonviolent Way. According to the nonprofit, "This theme is more than a banner; it’s a blueprint for action...anchor[ing] our commitment to building the Beloved Community: a world where injustice ends, violence is replaced by compassion, and love becomes the prevailing force."
These are both large and complex ideas, and we encourage our younger students to focus on the power of choosing kindness over meanness.
Students are invited to explore these ideas in essay form, in a poem, or visually in a poster.
Deadline for all submissions: December 31, 2025
Entries may be submitted here.
