North High Newsletter
May 2026
From the Principal
Greetings Viking Families,
We are down to the last 18 days of school (10 for seniors). Please encourage students to finish strong. There is still time to get work done, raise grades and earn credits. Spring sports and activities are wrapping up. We are proud of all that our students have accomplished!
As the school year comes to a close, speak with your students about behavior expectations. We do not want students to make impulsive decisions that have a lasting impact on their educational journey. Safety continues to be our top priority and we need everyone to be their best selves and make a positive contribution to our school community. Now more than ever it is important to Be a Viking—Be Responsible, Respectful, and Accountable!
Thank you to all who have completed the Culture and Climate Survey for Families. If you have not done so, the link is included below. Your input helps us grow and improve our service to the Viking Community.
We look forward to honoring the graduating class of 2026 on May 22nd at 2pm at Baxter Arena. The live stream link for the event is included below. We will share it via social media, the school website, and email as the event grows closer.
Although, there are 9 great options, we truly believe North High is the #Place2Be! As always, we thank you for your continued support and involvement in the Viking Community. If you have any questions, please call us 531-299-2700.

Vikings 'Caught Reading'
As a part of the book fair, we had multiple drawings for more books for students to take home. When a student is "caught reading" they are given a ticket to come choose a book from the book fair and they are also given the opportunity to use that ticket in for the weekly drawings. For the last three weeks of April, there were drawings each week. There will also be a grand prize drawing of an entire set of the Hunger Games books will be held at the end of April. #EveryVikingAReader
Robotics!
North High’s robotics team 1064G G-Force (David A, Donovan J, Jesus P, and Orion (Ash) Q.) traveled to St. Louis to compete in the VEX Robotics World Championships. The team represented both on and off the field, showing the world what it means to be a Viking and winning the Sportsmanship Award, which is awarded to a team that earns the respect and admiration of the volunteers and other teams at the event. #place2be 💙💛💙💛
AP Seminar!
AP Seminar students have officially wrapped up both Performance Task 1 and Performance Task 2, which are two huge milestones for the year! Throughout each task, these sophomores conducted in-depth research, synthesized information from multiple sources, developed comprehensive research reports, and presented their findings in formal presentations. The process was rigorous and challenging, but students stayed committed and pushed through the challenges presented by the College Board. We’re proud of their hard work and perseverance in making it all the way to the end!
We also want to extend a sincere thank you to the adults in our students’ lives who supported them along the way. Whether you helped edit papers, listen to practice presentations, or offered encouragement during stressful moments, their success is a reflection of that support and we truly appreciate the role you played in helping our students reach this achievement.
