This year, with the help of my student teacher Miss Kasey, I decided to do a large collaborative project for the second graders. During the first week of the project, we discussed the different parts of gingerbread houses and each student got to design their own. Then, each table was assigned a piece of the gingerbread house, and they worked with their tablemates to decide what it would look like.
The following week, the teams got to execute their designs! They were in charge of getting their own materials, deciding whether they were painting their details or gluing them on, and most importantly, they needed to work together. Going into week 2, I admittedly was nervous! But your students blew me away with their creativity and their cooperation. To say I am proud is an understatement. I hope you enjoy these gorgeous winter masterpieces as much as we all enjoyed making them.
