Happy Fall FSS Family!

Greetings FSS Students and Families!

As we welcome in a new season 🍁 and settle into new routines for the new school year, I would like to express my deep appreciation to our students, families, and educators for making the first two weeks of remote learning a success. It is certainly a challenging time and we are grateful that we have begun to build strong partnerships with our students and families. Technology hiccups and learning curves are a normal part of this new and different start. We appreciate your patience, flexibility, and feedback. It helps us reflect on our practices and make the necessary improvements.

Just as our students and families have been working very hard, our FSS educators, custodians, food service staff, and administrative assistants have been working diligently to provide support to our families, curate welcoming SeeSaw and Google classrooms, and work to make our building sparkle for when we welcome students back! I have had the chance to visit all of our classroom teachers' Morning Meetings and it has been such a pleasure to meet and see all of our FSS students' smiling faces. Thank you all for such a warm welcome!

In order to build upon our great momentum, please make sure your student/s are logging in to Morning Meeting each morning, participating in synchronous (live) instruction, and completing assignments daily. We know this can be tough, but believe this consistency will ensure for a smooth transition back into the school building, build peer relationships, and most importantly, this is time that students receive critical instruction and feedback from our educators.

Lastly, we are excited to invite you to our annual Open House event on Wednesday, October 7 from 5-6p.m. It will be held virtually. More information will be sent via SchoolMessenger that will include specific details. Stay tuned! :-)

On behalf of the entire FSS staff, I want to wish you a happy and healthy Fall season. We are grateful for your continued support and partnership. We could not do this without our wonderful FSS Fam!

As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

With gratitude,

Michelle Fenimore 🍎

Principal

Setting Students Up for Success

⭐ Find the least distracting place to learn and listen.

⭐ Use headphones if your surroundings are noisy or distracting.

⭐ Be on time.

⭐ Use a comfortable chair.

⭐ Try to keep distracting toys and other non-learning items away from your workspace.

⭐ Dress comfortably but also dress similarly to how you would if you were at school.

⭐ Be respectful of the virtual environment that you and your teacher have created!

⭐ Try assignments on your own at first. We know it might be tricky but we are here to help you. Try activities and assignments on your own and then ask your teacher for help.

⭐ Shhh...we're learning. Remember to mute your microphone when the teacher is giving a lesson. This helps everyone in our school community learn and focus the best!

💚 We appreciate you inviting and allowing us in your homes each day and understand that we are all doing the best we can. Thank you for the opportunity to educate your child/ren. It is truly an honor. 💚
