A Note From Mrs. Smith
NHE Families,
What a wonderful week we have ahead at Northwood Hills! Our halls are full of joy, learning, and so many special moments, and I’m excited to share them with you.
This week, we are enjoying one of our favorite traditions—Family Lunch Week and Book Fair! We love opening our doors to families and giving you the chance to enjoy lunchtime with your student. You’ll find all the details for this cherished event below.
Our big schoolwide celebration this week is Multicultural Night on Thursday from 5:30–7:00. This is always such a beautiful reflection of who we are as a community. We can’t wait to honor our diversity with student performances and showcases representing 15 different countries.
And then… we head into Thanksgiving Break! I hope the week off brings your family rest, connection, and lots of joy.
Thank you for being such an important part of our NHE family. We are grateful every day for the strong, caring community that surrounds and supports our school.
Warmly,
Jenni Smith

Capturing Kids Hearts November Focus: Teamwork
What is Teamwork?
Teamwork is the ability to work in unity with others towards a common goal. For us to learn how to become team players, it is important that we learn to listen, encourage our peers, and allow and invite others to contribute their talents and skills.
Why focus on Teamwork?
Teamwork improves communication: Teamwork helps us improve our verbal and non-verbal communication skills, conveying that we care and a relevant message.
Teamwork builds interpersonal awareness: Growing a great team requires us to first build strong relationships through a better understanding of ourselves and others.
Teamwork celebrates diversity. Teamwork thrives from diverse ideas that come from a mixture of different genders, cultures, expertise, experience, and problem-solving approaches.

Lunch Visitors
We’re Excited to Welcome Lunch Visitors!
Here are a few reminders to help make your visit smooth and enjoyable:
One visit per week, please. This helps us manage space and make sure every family has the opportunity to visit.
Arrive on time. Plan to be here before your child’s lunch period begins.
Bring your photo ID. All visitors must check in at the front office and wear a visitor badge while on campus.
Enjoy lunch at the visitor table. For safety reasons, visitors should sit at the designated visitor table with their child only. Parents may not sit in the cafeteria.
Friends can’t join your table. We know kids love company, but we ask that you enjoy this time just with your child.
Put phones away. To protect student privacy and keep the focus on your child, please avoid phone use, photos, or videos while in the cafeteria.
Head out after lunch. When your child’s lunch period ends, please exit through the front office. Visitors may not walk students back to class.
Permission for guests. If someone other than a parent/guardian plans to visit, we need written permission from the parent ahead of time.
Thank you for helping us make lunch visits a safe, positive experience for everyone. We can’t wait to see you in the cafeteria!

Help RISD Stock the Shelves
Stock the Shelves: Help RISD Support Families in Need
Richardson ISD is working together to make a meaningful impact in our community—and you can help!
This fall, RISD has set a goal to collect 10,000 pounds of canned or boxed food items to support RISD families in need.
Donations may be dropped off at any RISD campus or office building from:
Monday, November 3 through Tuesday, November 18
All canned and boxed goods are welcome, and any brand is acceptable. To keep all donations safe, RISD asks that you please avoid glass containers.
If you’re unsure what to donate or want to help even more easily, visit the RISD Amazon Wish List for suggestions and ideas:
Your contribution—large or small—helps us work toward our community goal and directly supports families across our district. Together, we can fill the shelves and make a real difference for those who need it most.
Help us reach 10,000 pounds and show the strength of our RISD community!
