Happy Friday, Kramer Families!
It’s been another busy week of testing, and our 3rd and 5th graders did an amazing job—we’re so proud of their hard work and effort!
Our 1st grade students had a wonderful time visiting You’re Fired, where they enjoyed painting ceramic tiles. The 5th graders also had a fun walking field trip to Spring Street Treats for some delicious ice cream. Meanwhile, our Kindergarten students explored and enjoyed their trip to Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve.
Field Day is coming up on May 8th! Please see the flyer for more information. We can really use volunteers to help make the day a success. Be sure to sign up using the QR code or the link attached below the flyer.
Please remember that ALL parents and guardians must have a background check on file with the board office in order to attend any field trip. This process can take a few days, so we encourage you to plan ahead. Please reach out to the main office if you have any questions.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We appreciate all you do to help make Kramer such a great place to learn and grow—have a wonderful weekend!
NO SCHOOL MONDAY MAY 4TH AND TUESDAY MAY 5TH!

Reading Corner May Newsletter
As we approach the end of the school year, we want to address the issue of “Summer Slide”. Younger students are at greater risk of losing skills learned throughout the school year because they are at a crucial stage of development. According to Scholastic, “Summer Slide” has been a topic of research since at least 1996. There are many ways to keep this from happening to your student, without making summer reading boring.
Some examples of this:
Keep books in your students’ hands by visiting the library or the Bookmobile. (You will need a library card.) Link to Lane Library
E-books can be found for free with your library card at HooplaDigital.com
Look for a “Little Free Library” in your neighborhood. One can be found outside your elementary school.
Activities:
Create a cozy reading space for your student with lights, comfy pillows, and stuffed animals to read to.
Go camping with your student in your living room with a blanket fort, flashlight, and a good book.
Participate in a summer reading bingo challenge. Here is one you may like from Scholastic! Summer Reading Bingo
Most importantly, please read with your child over the summer!
YOU are the best teacher for your child!

Health Reminder: Flu and Seasonal Illness
We are seeing an increase in flu and seasonal illnesses at school. To help prevent the spread of
illness, please keep your child home if they have a fever (100°F or higher), vomiting or diarrhea,
significant cough, sore throat with fever, body aches, extreme fatigue, or flu-like symptoms.
Students should be fever-free for 24 hours without medication and symptom-free for 24 hours
after vomiting or diarrhea before returning to school. Thank you for helping keep our school
community healthy.

Kramer's Reading at Home (RAH)
This school year, Kramer’s Reading At Home (RAH) program was a huge success, and we are so proud of our students’ dedication to reading!
An incredible 82% of our K–2 students participated by turning in at least one reading sheet; that’s 208 young readers building strong habits at home. Even more impressive, almost half of those participants turned in 10 or more sheets, showing consistent commitment throughout the year.
Our most avid readers truly went above and beyond. We had 26 students read over 500 books, and our top three readers each surpassed an amazing 1,000 books!
Altogether, Kramer students recorded over 39,000 books read this year! Each book read is an opportunity to grow imagination, vocabulary, and a lifelong love of reading.
These impressive readers took home more than 1,000 books from the RAH cart, helping them build their own home libraries. Rewards also kept motivation high, with the favorite prize this year being coupons to local businesses like Oxford Doughnut Shoppe and Spring Street Treats.
Thank you to our families for supporting reading at home and helping make this program such a meaningful part of our school community. We can’t wait to see even more reading adventures next year!
Have you connected your Kroger Rewards card to the Kramer PTG yet? Each account can be connected to ONE nonprofit. When you use this feature, Kroger donates a percentage of your expenses to our PTG. You just have to sign up once!
