The Weekly Highlander 2025-2026
Volume #10
A Message from the Principal
Dear Highlander Families:
We held our first Student Recognition Assembly this week. Congratulations to our Highlanders who are Winning the Day and were recognized by one of their teachers. We also recognized students who had worked hard on their English skills and Redesignated Proficient in English. There were 571 students who had perfect attendance, they attended every period every day and were not late to any classes. We randomly selected 15 of these students who received a free sandwich at Chick-fil-A in Tustin on 17th Street. We have so many hard working students who are making our Highlander community such a special place to be this year! We are so PROUD!
There are so many ways to connect at Hewes. Students started Cross Country this week and are busy preparing for the first meet on October 9th. Dime Volleyball, one of our Community Partners is offering free volleyball clinics for Hewes students. Please see information about this opportunity in this newseltter.
Please stay connected to Hewes by checking our website and following us on Instagram @heweshighlanders for the latest information and news.

Faculty Friday
A big THANK YOU to our amazing technology support team! Ms.Rivera and Mr.Narciso, you worked tirelessly to ensure every student started the year with a working iPad. Your dedication to supporting both students and staff, along with the seamless way you collaborate to get things done, truly makes a difference. We appreciate your hard work and look forward to the growth and success it helps create!
Highlander for a Day is a recognition program at Hewes Middle School that celebrates students for incredible moments of Winning the Day the Highlander Way. Students are recognized for working hard, including others, never giving up, controlling their responses, choosing to act above the line, and taking extreme ownership of their 20 square feet. These are the habits and mindsets that shape our Highlander culture, and we are so proud to share them with our entire school community.
Pajama Pants Only Permitted on Spirit Days
We’d like to remind everyone that pajama pants are only allowed as part of designated Spirit Days. On regular school days, we ask that students follow our dress code and refrain from wearing pajama-style clothing. We appreciate your support in helping us maintain a focused and respectful school environment.
