GlowHouse to welcome Brandenberg Amethyst Crystal to DC

An old friend recently reached out enquiring about the possibility of bringing a Crystal to DC and to see if GlowHouse could host it for a time! We are excited welcome Teralis & Joshua to DC to bring the Crystal to GlowHouse. We will have a Ceremony and Potluck this Sunday, October 5th from 7-9 pm to celebrate the arrival of this crystal, please message d@duane.com if you'd like an invitation!

A Seeker's Path to Global Harmony:

The Amethyst Crystal Resonance Enhancer

Joseph Teralis Arison L.Ac.

A Vision for Healing a Hurting World

I feel a deep anguish at the cruelty and callousness within our political systems. During a deep meditation one night earlier this year I had a clear vision of a way to help our world through rebalancing earth energy.

This isn't a unique idea. In 1982, while studying acupuncture in Beijing, my dear friend and fellow student Alfred shared the incredible story of the 16th Karmapa, His Holiness Rangjung Rigpe Dorje (spiritual leader of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism). Before his passing in 1981, the Karmapa instructed Alfred–his then young acupuncturist–to place blessed crystals at specific locations across China and the world. The Karmapa indicated that these crystal placements were vital for healing the Earth and humanity.

In my vision I received a message that a Brandberg Amethyst from the sacred mountains of Namibia had been mined and should be placed somewhere in Washington, DC–akin to the acupuncture needles of the Karmapa. The next morning I began my research and contacted a gem and crystal mining company in Namibia called Stone Age Minerals. They did have the amethyst crystal cluster that matched the one in my vision and were coincidentally seeking an ideal buyer. The crystal cluster is now in my possession and ready for placement.

The power of the amethyst cluster is amplified using a low intensity Schumann Wave Magnetic Field Generator. The cluster is lit with LED lighting to illuminate its exquisite features and will be housed in a custom designed pure copper base. An object of beauty, it is an artful natural sculpture that will enhance any space, be it government or corporate offices, museum, art gallery, crystal store, or home.

I wish to place this Amethyst Crystal Resonance Enhancer in Washington D.C., near the centers of power, as an artwork loan or cultural awareness program. By placing it strategically to counteract the pervasive negative energies engulfing the USA and, by extension, the world, I wish it to make one small but potentially meaningful contribution to elevating human consciousness and healing our world.

When was the last time you were present with your body? In the fast-paced world we live in, it can be easy to dissociate from the body, causing us to store unprocessed stress in the body. This can lead to symptoms like chronic tension, anxiety, chronic pain, decreased mobility, poor posture, digestive issues, and low mood. Somatic healing can bring us deeper into relationship with the body and untangle the layers of emotion and tension that get stuck there.

This workshop is a chance for you to come back home to your body and release tension through deep awareness, gentle movement, and healing self-bodywork. We’ll explore how you can work with your nervous system to regulate yourself through gentle practices and techniques that you can use in your everyday life. Come as you are and leave feeling centered and refreshed.

ABOUT SOMATICS:

The word "somatic" means "of or relating to the body."

Somatic healing is a body-centered modality that looks at the connection of mind and body for holistic healing. Somatic Stress Release is a system taught by Dr. Scott Lyons, which employs the use of movement therapy approaches, muscular-fascial release work, bodywork, breath work, authentic movement practices, somatic experiencing and much more to help clients build resilience, unblock stuck emotions, and release tension. Because of the variety of tools that are used in this modality, it is accessible to people of all ages and abilities.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

Somatic Stress Release is for anyone who is dealing with chronic stress, chronic fatigue, burnout, chronic pain, depression, or anxiety; wants support processing difficult emotions through a somatic approach; or wants to build resilience and change their relationship with stress.

About Your Facilitator:

Mia Becker is a certified somatic practitioner and therapist who is passionate about helping others break out of the cycle of chronic stress, regulate their nervous systems, and connect with their authentic self expression so that they can create fulfilling lives filled with ease, joy, pleasure, and play.

After training as a somatic practitioner, Mia earned her Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in order to bridge the worlds of somatics and mental health. Mia facilitates workshops that focus on somatic approaches to stress management and authentic living, including topics on polyvagal theory, healing self touch, nervous system regulation, somatic healing techniques, and conscious movement. Her mission is to empower people to come back home to their bodies and inner wisdom and cultivate opportunities for self-regulation and co-regulation in everyday life that spark healing change in our communities.

Circling with Rebo: All Levels Circling

When: Monday, October 27th

Time: 7pm, Doors open 6:45pm

Tickets are $15

Reserve yours by Venmo-ing @rebeccahassell

The goal of Circling is for a group of people to see the world through each other's eyes, and for you to see the world through other people’s eyes. We flourish under the influence of caring, curious, and non-judgmental attention – and so does the connection between us.

Your reflection is what you see in the mirror. To give someone a reflection is to tell them what you think they said – but like an old mirror, we often unintentionally shift, change, or distort their words. This is because our memories are imperfect, we may have expected them to say something different, or we might have leapt to a judgement without even realizing it. We don’t often reflect aloud, and so we reply based on what we think we heard, they reply on what they think we meant – and then we find ourselves in a confusing conversational funhouse.

At this all-levels circling session, we’re going to slow down and check in with what we think we heard and think the other person meant, with the goal of better understanding and intentionality.

This session is open to everyone, from first-timers to circlilng experts. If money is tight, please contact me for pay-what-you-can options.

About your facilitator:

Rebo Hassell is passionate about authentic communication and community building. These efforts have included the long-running Uncorked sex discussion series, the newly-launched Community Central groups in Brookland and Tysons, and circling..

IFS Authentic Relating: Anger, Connection, and Joy

Sunday, November 2nd, 2-5 PM

Join us with Terry Baranski as we infuse Internal Family Systems (IFS) into various Authentic Relating exercises. Register at EventBrite ahead of time to reserve your spot. This event will sell out!

Terry Writes:

In this IFS-informed Authentic Relating workshop, I'll provide a brief overview of Internal Family Systems (IFS), which is a revolutionary way of looking at the mind - as consisting of parts, rather than being a single thing - and getting to know ourselves in a deep/authentic way. We'll then split up into rotating pairs for various IFS-informed Authentic Relating exercises, which will explore a wide spectrum of our experiences: Anger, Connection, and Joy. These exercises will enable us to deeply relate to each other in a parts-aware way - by speaking to each other about our various parts, and allowing our parts to be truly heard and witnessed by another.

This location is metro accessible, and street parking is available. Seating is a mixture of couches and floor space - yoga mats are available for those on the floor.

Doors open at 1:45. Please give yourself extra time for DC-area commuting - we'd like to start the event promptly at 2:00. Allergy Note: There is a cat in the house.

---------------------------------------

Terry Baranski is an Internal Family Systems practitioner who works 1-on-1, with couples, and in groups, with people all over the world to address their mental health challenges. IFS is an approach to therapy and self-growth which offers a unique perspective on the mind - one that opens the door to self-compassion and self-understanding rather than judgment and shame. It's a wonderful technique to help us get in touch with our true selves, see the big picture, and get to know our minds in a more intimate way.
