Today we had a HOLD during the school day as I addressed in an email I sent to families this morning. Please know that we practice a variety of drills each year (in an elementary appropriate way). Today we announced a HOLD over the speaker because the Bloomingdale Police called and asked all students/staff to remain indoors. All I mentioned over the speaker was, "Excuse this interruption, we are in a HOLD, students and staff should remain indoors." The staff and students know what this means and learning goes on as normal within the building.

A HOLD can be called by the Police Department for a variety of reasons. These are some examples, Coyote on the loose in the area, theft at a local store and the suspect could run, a nearby domestic dispute, attempted bank threat, or a car driving erratically throughout Bloomingdale, etc. A HOLD is not a direct threat to Erickson or Erickson students/staff. I am thankful for our partnership with the Police Department and keeping us informed and safe always.

If your child will be absent from school, please call the office 630-529-2223 or email the Attendance Email: erattendance@sd13.org by 9:00am. Also, if you are changing your child's dismissal plan, please call the office by 2:00. Phone calls after 2:00 can not always be relayed to the student.

Please reach out if you have any question or concerns. The best way to reach me would be via email or phone: sjohnston@sd13.org or 630-529-2223.

Trimester 2 report cards will be officially available to view in ALMA tomorrow. We encourage you to take some time to sit down with your student and review their report card together. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their hard work, highlight areas of growth, and set positive goals for the final trimester of the school year.

Access Your Child’s Progress Report

Please feel free to reach out to Stacy Johnston at sjohnston@sd13.org if you have any problems accessing your Alma account or viewing your child’s progress report.

As always, if you have any questions regarding specific grades, progress, or the curriculum, please reach out directly to your child’s classroom teacher. They are your best resource for understanding how your student is performing in the classroom.

One of the ways we get feedback is through the Illinois 5Essentials Survey. Every year, parents are able to take the survey to let us know how we are doing as a school. Your feedback is important.

The survey should only take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Our goal is to get 40% of our parents/guardians to take the survey. As of February 26th we have 18% of parents who have completed the survey. Click here to take the survey. Please complete the survey by March 13th. Thank you for your time!
