EVERY SCHOOL DAY COUNTS. “Did you know?” Keeping your child at home when they are sick or have a fever helps keep our classrooms healthy! If students attend school when they are ill, germs can spread and more students miss school and learning time.

ParentSquare

Portland Public Schools is transitioning from the Remind platform to ParentSquare to allow for easier, more efficient communication between the district, our schools, our teachers, and our students. Everyone should have been sent an activation link from PPS.

Here is a guide on how to get started with ParentSquare.
Here are some tips for using ParentSquare.

"We are seeking dedicated volunteers to join the fundraising committee for Birdie’s Place, a memorial playground project honoring a child’s legacy of joy and play. Specifically, we need individuals with skills or interest in community and business outreach to help spread the word, engage local partners, and build strong support for this meaningful cause. If you’re passionate about making a difference and bringing Birdie’s Place to life, we’d love to have you on our team! To learn more, please email us at birdiesplacefundraising@gmail.com."

Portland Association of Teachers (PAT) is coming to the Lewis playground today, Wednesday, September 24 after pickup. Join PAT on the blacktop for popsicles and a chance to talk with representatives about what makes Lewis so special.

Time to get excited for Jog-a-thon, the Lewis PTA's biggest fundraiser and community-building event. Come cheer on students Thursday, October 9 as they run around the field to raise money for Lewis. (With funds raised from last year, Lewis teachers will bring a drumming residency to the whole school this year!) Text, email and share the link to donate and help us spread the word! Click here to Donate to the Jog a Thon! A SignUpGenius will be coming soon seeking volunteers for the day of the event. In the meantime, mark your calendar with students' race times: K/1st: 12:50-1:10pm; 2nd/3rd/Mr. Post: 1:20-1:40 pm; and 4th/5th: 1:50-2:10pm.

It's Pie Sale time! Please order by Friday, October 17 for a Tuesday, November 4 delivery.

Perfect timing for Fall pie eating!

*All pies are handcrafted in Silverton with all-natural, clean ingredients and low added sugar.*

All proceeds benefit 5th Grade. Paper order forms will be sent home , or use this link to order: Pie Order Form

Payment and orders due by Friday, October 17. Deliver payment in form of checks or cash to the front office. Please make checks payable to Lewis PTA. Thank you for supporting 5th Grade!

Trunk-or-Treat is coming Friday, October 24 from 5-7pm! Start planning your spookiest, elementary-school-age appropriate trunk decorations and costumes. We rely on your generous candy donations to ensure every child leaves with a treat bag! We are asking each Lewis family, if possible, to donate one bag of recently purchased, individually wrapped candy. All donations can be dropped off in the "Candy Monster" collection bin beginning Wednesday, September 24. This bin will be outside the front office during the day and on the blacktop at school pick up. We will be sending out Sign Up Genius links in next week's newsletter for event volunteers and decorated cars. Thank you for helping support this fun, free, community event!
