Raider Weekly
Week of 11/10/2025
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Raider Families,
It’s hard to believe we’re already in the second week of November; time is flying by at Quail Valley Middle School!
Progress Report #3 wrapped up this past Friday! This is a great opportunity to check grades, chat with your student about their progress, and remind them that morning tutorials are available for extra help. Staying on top of learning now makes a big difference as we head into the final stretch of the semester.
This past Monday, our 8th Grade Boys Football Team competed in the District Championship game against Missouri City. It was a true nail-biter that ended 0–0 in regulation and went to field goals in overtime. While we came up just short, I could not be prouder of our boys and the incredible coaching staff. Their hard work, grit, and sportsmanship throughout the season truly represent the Raider spirit!
Last week, I shared information about two exciting academic programs (Achieve 3000 and ALEKS) exclusive to Quail Valley Middle School. These powerful tools are designed to strengthen students’ reading and math skills through personalized learning paths.
Both programs are available on students’ Chromebooks and can be accessed through Clever using single sign-on under the McGraw Hill app. From there, students can select either Achieve 3000 or ALEKS and begin learning right away.
To help your student make the most of these programs at home, here are a few fun and effective ways to motivate and track progress:
-
Set Weekly Goals – Encourage your student to complete a certain number of articles or math topics each week. Celebrate their success at the end of the week!
-
Friendly Challenges – Turn learning into a fun family challenge. See who can meet their goal first or earn the most progress badges.
-
Make It Routine – Schedule a consistent 15–20 minutes each evening for Achieve 3000 or ALEKS. A little practice every day makes a big impact.
-
Talk About Learning – Ask your child to share something new they learned or an interesting article they read.
-
Recognize Effort – Praise persistence and celebrate growth—small rewards go a long way in keeping motivation high!
See the flyer below for more information about both programs and how you can support your student’s learning journey at home.
Thank you, Raider families, for your ongoing support and encouragement. Together, we’re helping every student grow, achieve, and thrive.
With Raider Pride,
Jorge Pena
Principal

SEPAC Information
Dear Raider Parents,
The Fort Bend ISD Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SEPAC) is made up of parents with special needs representing all FBISD Campuses. The purpose of the SEPAC is to facilitate understanding, respect, and appropriate education for all children while supporting families and educators who are also striving for this goal.
The 2025-2026 representative for Quail Valley Middle School is Ms. Sherri Bub. Ms. Bub has agreed to serve as a liaison between Quail Valley Middle School parents/families of children with special needs and district special education representative. We are in search of an alternative representative, in the event that Ms. Bub is not able to attend a meeting. Ms. Bub is a grandparent of an 8th grader so it would be nice to have a volunteer that would be able to serve next year. Ms. Bub will provide input to and receive information directly from the Special Education Department. To contact Ms. Bub directly please use the following email contact: bubmom1@comcast.net. Please put SEPAC in the subject line.
FBISD protect the confidentiality of all personally identifiable information in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other applicable federal and state laws, and regulations. Please note that your SEPAC Campus Representative does not have your name or contact information. If you would like to receive information shared at the SEPAC meeting and upcoming events, please contact Ms. Bub directly. If you are needing assistance with you child’s IEP and services, please contact your child’s Special Education Case Manager at Quail Valley Middle School for direct assistance.
The SEPAC encourages open communication, understanding, and mutual respect among all students, parents, and district educators. We appreciate your support as we work to fulfill the district’s mission of inspiring and equipping all students to pursue a future beyond what they can imagine.
Sincerely,
Jorge Pena
