What a Great Arts and Academic Night!
Assistant Principal's Message
Dear CES Families,
The week of April 20th is vacation week. I encourage you to put away the electronic devices and get outside. Outdoor play and exploration promotes physical health and fosters your child's creativity and curiosity. Try a new walking trail, go to a new playground, or kick the ball around. Not only is this good for the body, but it's also good for the soul and creates lifelong memories.
On May 4th - May 8th we will be having our teacher and staff appreciation week. We will be looking for donations. More information to come.
Also, another friendly reminder that there is NO SCHOOL for Pre K and Kindergarten ONLY, on Monday, May 11th. The Pre K and kindergarten staff will be working on registering our new kindergarteners for next year. Normal school hours will resume on Tuesday, Monday 12th.
On June 5th, we will be having our field day in the morning. We are looking for volunteers. Volunteers do need to submit paperwork for a background check. Feel free to stop by the office if you are interested.
As always, thank you for all of your support this school year. Feel free to reach out if I can be of any assistance.
Best,
Erin Madore
Assistant Principal
Bikes for Books Kickoff!
The Masons joined us to kick off Bikes for Books at Canaan Elementary. Remarkably, this program has been going on for close to 2 decades. For every book read, students can put in for a chance to win a bike. Classroom teachers will provide information on how tickets can be earned for home reading. We are looking forward to seeing who are lucky winners are in June.
April's Core Value of the Month
Each month Canaan Elementary students learn about a core value. These core values are essential for building good character and all point back to the BIG 3 - Treating others right, making smart decisions, and maximizing your potential. April's Core Value is Honor. Honor is letting others know you see how valuable they really are.
Students will earn cougar slips if seen showing Honor and any of our previous studied core values. Each month, we will draw one cougar slip and that student's classroom will win an extra recess! Teachers also pick 2 students each month to be the Core Value Student of the Month. These students will receive a certificate, a medal, and be invited to a pizza party with Mrs. Madore.
Humility's Core Value Student and Classroom of the Month
Mrs. Gallison's Class - Skye & Heidi
Mrs. Bellerose's Class - Serenity & Bella
Mrs. Whittemore's Class - Ellie
Our Humility classroom of the month is Mrs. Gallison's Class. The ticket pulled was Jack's ticket. Jack's class earned an extra recess!
