HELPFUL STAFF INFORMATION HELPFUL STAFF INFORMATION

Parents often ask the office staff for ideas on ways to show appreciation to individual staff members. Our Leader in Me, Culture Action Team came up with the idea to help those parents by collecting our staff's favorite things into one spreadsheet. We hope this will give guidance to families who would like to thank and acknowledge our staff during the holidays and throughout the year.

Dear Families,

Are you looking for a quick and easy way to support our school? Box Tops for Education has been around for over 25 years, and it really can make a difference. In fact, the Box Tops program has helped give almost one billion dollars to schools since 1996.

The Box Tops app gives participants the ability to earn for any school across the country with just the touch of a button. Plus, the Box Tops app allows you to search for schools that could use a little extra help, so you can help give students in low-income schools the opportunity to succeed.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS: Buy participating products and use the Box Tops app to scan your store receipt. The app identifies eligible products and earnings are credited to your designated school online. Even if you’re shopping online or doing grocery pickup, you can still submit your digital or email receipt with the Box Tops app and earn. Twice a year, our school gets a check! See a list of participating products at BTFE.COM/PRODUCTS

Box Tops earnings really add up, and the more people that participate, the bigger the impact we

can make. So let’s give our teachers the support they need and give more kids the opportunity to

succeed. Together, we can help make a big difference.

BE A LUNCHROOM HERO BE A LUNCHROOM HERO

Our School Lunch Hero program aims to ensure no child leaves the cafeteria hungry. Donate to our Lunch Hero program to help WSD families struggling to keep up with paying for school breakfast and lunch. Read more about School Lunch Heroes and make a donation.

INCLEMENT WEATHER AND AMI DAYS INCLEMENT WEATHER AND AMI DAYS

As we approach the colder months, we want to re-share the District communication that has information regarding the WSD's inclement weather procedures for the 2025-26 school year. This year, snow days one and two will be traditional snow days. After our second snow day this year, we will switch to AMI (alternative methods of instruction) for snow days three through seven. Read more on what to expect this winter or view AMI assignments.

COMMUNITY RESOURCES AND SUPPORT COMMUNITY RESOURCES AND SUPPORT

We know that unexpected challenges can make it difficult to meet everyday needs. Here are some resources that WSD families may access if needed:

Meal Programs and Support

If your household’s income has changed, you may now qualify for free or reduced-priced meals. View the current income guidelines and apply for these benefits at any time. Questions? Contact Mary Jo Sanzottera at marysanzottera@wsdr4.org.

Food Emergencies

If your family needs immediate food assistance, the following community organizations can help you locate nearby pantries and food distribution events:

  • FindHelp.org – Local Food Pantries in Wentzville

  • St. Louis Area Foodbank – Food Distribution Events

These external resources are provided for community convenience and are not specifically endorsed by the Wentzville School District.

Homelessness

If your family is experiencing homelessness or is at risk of becoming displaced due to financial hardship, you may contact Coordinated Entry by calling 2-1-1 or through their website. For student enrollment questions related to homelessness and displacement, please reach out to Dr. Laura Rowe-Holler, Executive Director of Student Services/McKinney-Vento Liaison at lauraroweholler@wsdr4.org or 636.327.3800.

Employment

If you are interested in seeking employment through the WSD, please review our current job openings. We have positions available with evening hours and even substitute opportunities.

Your child’s school counselor may be able to help connect you with available District and community resources. Contact information for school counselors can be found on each school's website Staff Directory. Search "counselor" in the keyword search bar.

Habit 3: Put First Things First

Thinking win-win is the key to working well with others. It is the most effective way of thinking, especially in a family. Families that learn and practice win-win thinking are happier, experience less conflict, and are better able to meet the family challenges that arise
