MORNING STUDENT DROP-OFF PROCEDURES

  • Students may enter the building at 7:50 a.m. There is no supervision available for students who arrive on campus before 7:50 am, so please do not drop students off before 7:50 unattended.
  • While there may be circumstances that cause you to be in a rush in the morning, it is crucial that you stay in one lane of traffic and follow the traffic direction of our staff members. Our goal is to keep all of our students and staff members safe!
  • Please do not park at the daycare next door and walk your child to Hairgrove. This is both a safety concern for families walking across the bus entrance and also creates a parking issue for the parents who have enrolled their children at the daycare.
  • Please pull forward to the first available staff member. Our staff members will open your car door and let your child out of the car. Please make sure that your child is ready to exit the vehicle on the passenger side when the staff member opens the door. If your child is not ready, you will be asked to park and walk him/her up to the front doors. We ask that parents remain in the car so that we can keep the line moving as efficiently as possible.
  • All students are eligible for free breakfast and it is served between 7:50-8:15. Instruction starts promptly at 8:15. If you want your child to eat breakfast and your child is a car rider, please drop your child off by 8:05 so that he/she has enough time to eat and get to class before teaching begins. We make sure that all bus riders have time to eat breakfast.
  • Children who arrive to school after 8:15 a.m. are tardy and must be signed in by a parent. Parents who drop off students late on a continual basis may receive a court warning letter and a visit from an attendance officer. Instruction starts at 8:15 a.m.

Afternoon Pick-Up Procedures

  • Our school day ends at 3:35 p.m. At that time, we will begin dismissal.
  • Make sure you have a car rider tag and that your child knows their car rider number. If you don't have a car rider tag, come by the school with your ID to pick one up.
  • Have your car rider tag hanging from your rearview mirror and follow the traffic directions of our staff members.
  • We have two car rider lines operating during afternoon dismissal. Once you enter a lane, please remain in that lane until your child is loaded. Do not switch lanes while waiting. Switching lanes disrupts our dismissal system and may result in you being asked to park and wait for your child.
  • At 4:00, all staff members will go inside and you will need to park and come into the front office to sign your child out from school. If this happens, be sure to have your ID with you.

Car Dismissal Procedures

The CFISD Police Department has noticed a pattern of drivers exiting the parking lot of Hairgrove Elementary and wanting to immediately drive across the two lanes of traffic to either U-turn or travel down Crossing Drive.

After dropping off and/or picking up students, parents are waiting for traffic to clear so they can drive across the two lanes. This holds up the car rider line, increasing the time it takes cars to load or unload and to get all students in the building on time.

When available, the CFISD Police Department has a patrol vehicle with emergency lights activated blocking off the right lane. This ensures that the right lane is free of traffic and available to safely enter. Regardless of whether other traffic is on N. Eldridge, drivers are not permitted to change multiple lanes to make a U-turn or turn onto Crossing Drive.

To avoid any enforcement action by CFISD Police Department, drivers are instructed to turn right into the first lane and then travel while signaling at least 100 feet prior to any lane changes. Drivers are then asked to travel to at least Gendley Drive before making a U-turn.

This practice of exiting the parking lot and immediately driving across N. Eldridge to Crossing Dr. is not only unsafe, but unlawful. The CFISD Police Department has advised that they will begin traffic enforcement at these intersections to promote driver safety.

Please drive safely and follow all traffic laws to help us safely bring all students into Hairgrove.

Remember, all students have bus service so if you would like to change your child to the bus, please let us know.
