Welcome back to a brand new school year, and welcome to our newest families! At Ellis, we have a wonderfully active parent community involved in the PTA.
Thank you for joining us during the Welcome Back picnic on August 21. We hope you all enjoyed seeing old friends, meeting new ones, and playing games on the blacktop area. We look forward to many exciting PTA events this school year, which we can only put on with your help!
As your students start settling into the school year, please join the PTA and volunteer when you can. Keep up with Ellis PTA updates through Parent Square and on our WhatsApp group.
Kona Ice and El Sabroson food trucks were at the Welcome Picnic.
The students played with lawn games.
Families spread out on picnic blankets and enjoyed dinner.

If you would like to volunteer at school, please complete or renew your volunteer application through Sunnyvale School District. All volunteers must have a completed application as well as:
TB clearance
All adult volunteers must have a current TB clearance. TB clearance is valid for four (4) years.
If your TB clearance on file is still current, you do not need to submit a new one. If your TB clearance has expired, please obtain an updated TB clearance and upload the documentation to your Better Impact account.
Fingerprinting
All adult volunteers are now required to complete fingerprinting with the Sunnyvale School District, regardless of the type of volunteer service they provide.
If you have already completed fingerprinting with the Sunnyvale School District, you do not need to complete fingerprinting again. Fingerprinting is a one-time requirement with our District.
If you were fingerprinted through another agency or school district, you will need to complete fingerprinting specifically for the Sunnyvale School District.
Complete the District's Mandated Volunteer Training
All volunteers are required to complete the District's mandated volunteer training before volunteering. Complete the Mandated Volunteer Training
For step-by-step instructions on how to register: Mandated Volunteer Training Registration Instructions
After completing the training, please save your certificate of completion and upload it to your Better Impact account.

You Are The Artist - New Volunteer Opportunity
The Ellis PTA is sponsoring a new visual arts program called You Are The Artist (YATA). Students will learn about three artists and create art inspired by the artists. The Ellis PTA will provide the lessons and materials, but we need parent volunteers to teach lessons in classes. Check with your child's teacher if you are interested in volunteering!
Events
For Movie Night on Friday, September 18, we need volunteers to help set up, run concessions, and clean up after the event. Sign up to help.
We are looking for co-leads for our upcoming Trunk or Treat (October 22) and Winter Wonderland (December 10) events as well.
Additional volunteering opportunities can be found on our website.
PTA Fall Fundraiser
Thank you for your interest and involvement in your child’s school! One final way to help is to donate directly to the PTA. You should have received a letter in your child’s Eagle folder. A donation amount of $150 per student is suggested, but donations of any amount are helpful and go directly towards Ellis students. Our goal is to raise $25,000 during our fall fundraising drive.
Spirit Wear Store Opens September 14-25
Show off your Ellis spirit with our exclusive apparel! The PTA is selling t-shirts and pull-over hoodies, available in youth and adult sizes. New this year: tie-dye t-shirts with the Ellis logo! Ellis gear is handy for student field trips and any time you want to show off your school spirit.
Our spirit wear store will be open from September 14-25, 2026. Order online–look for more information from your teacher. Once the store closes, the items will be printed and shipped to school. Your teacher will send purchased items home with your student.
