Team Tappan Shines at Michigan State Science Olympiad
On April 25th, five dedicated members of Team Tappan traveled to Michigan State University to compete in the State Science Olympiad tournament. Our students delivered a commendable performance against the state’s best, finishing the year strong with these impressive results:
Experimental Design: The trio of Ananya, Sia and Yukttha earned a Silver Medal for their brilliant execution and teamwork.
Botany (Trial Event): Armaan and Myra showcased their knowledge, securing a 7th place medal.
It was a fantastic day of scientific inquiry and collaboration. Congratulations to the entire team on these hard-earned achievements and a wonderful conclusion to the season!
Teacher Appreciation Week
In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week (May 4-May 8th) help us celebrate our wonderful staff by signing up and donating flowers on Thursday, May 7th, so they can create beautiful floral bouquets. Flowers can be dropped off at the main office on Thursday, May 7th no later than 9am. Feel free to send them with your student, and we will greet them at the door.
Wellness Day Opportunities - Help Students with Mental and Physical Health!
Wellness Day is May 8th and Tappan P2P group and Counseling Department have the following volunteers opportunities with the goal to help students learn how to keep themselves mentally and physically well:
*Present a 20-30 minute workshop: Presentations can be about what you do for a job, how it affects your mental health, how you chose your profession.
*If you're affiliated with an organization, you could discuss the programs and services they offer, or could present information they believe is important for middle school students.
*Option to run a class or a demonstration.
Event will run 10:30am-3:30pm, lunch and a small gift of appreciation will be provided. Please fill out the form to participate.
We Are Halfway There!
The PTO Council is halfway to our goal for the 2026 $30 for 30k fundraiser! We need your help to get over the finish line!
PTO income varies across elementary schools in the district with a range of $87 per student per year to $245 per student per year. PTO income tends to be higher at schools with fewer economically disadvantaged students and at less diverse schools, compounding inequity for AAPS students and families. Please consider donating $30 (or more) to help increase Ann Arbor Title I schools’ per pupil spending. If you can’t donate at this time, help spread the word about the fundraiser in our community.
