Traffic Safety Traffic Safety

Parents and Guardians of the community,

Please be mindful of traffic safety laws around a school. It is essential to follow all laws to ensure the safety of our children. Always avoid making U-turns in front of the school, crossing the double yellow lines, as this can create dangerous situations for pedestrians or cause unnecessary car accidents. Additionally, do not allow children to enter the street to get into vehicles, as walking between cars puts them at risk of not being seen by other drivers. Furthermore, please do not block or use our neighbors driveways as your personnel parking area. The bus loop is only for our busses, local daycares, and parents with a pass. Finally, it’s crucial to use designated drop-off and pick-up zones and be vigilant for children crossing at the crosswalks. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. Child safety is our number one priority.

Arrival Arrival

The school does not open for drop off until 8:15 AM for students. There is no supervision before 8:15 AM.

Students need to be through the gate by 8:40 AM. Once it is 8:40 AM students must go through the office until 8:45 AM in order to be on time for school. Traffic builds up quickly, so please plan accordingly. If students arrive past 8:45 AM, parents or guardians must walk into the office with their child to check them in.

Please help us with a smooth arrival by pulling all the way to the side of the curb. Please do not allow for students to cross the street unless they are at a crosswalk. Remember to not park in the bus loop at the front of the school, handicap spaces or the staff parking lot.

The bus loop is for busses only.

We appreciate your help and support.

Early Dismissals Early Dismissals

Parents or guardians must report to the office to sign out their child. Your child will be called to the office to be signed out by you when you arrive to pick them up. You must have your ID and be on the student profile in order to pick up any student. Please be considerate of our lunch hours when you are pulling your child out early. It is sometimes difficult to locate them on the playground and get their things during their lunch time.

Please note that students will not be called up to the office for early pick up during the last 15 minutes of the day. If you arrive at 2:50 or later (1:10 or later on Wednesdays), parents/guardians will be asked to wait for the bell.

We have a Little Red Schoolhouse that will be available to students 1st grade through 6th grade during their lunch time. Items for sale include little prizes, pencils, erasers, etc. All the items for sale are under $2 so we ask that you please do not send your child with large dollar bills ($5-$10 is more than enough!).

Parking Lot Parking Lot

Safety is our number one priority. The front parking lot is designated for staff only. You may park in empty parking spaces in the back parking lot, unless it is labeled staff. Please make sure to pull through in the back parking lot when picking up your child. When you exit the back parking lot, you may only turn right. Do not make an illegal left turn.

Please make sure to talk to your child about the policy of NO Cell Phone/Smart Watch use on campus. Cell phones should be turned off and put inside students backpacks all day. They may not bring them out for any reason. Students can use their cell phones after they leave the campus. If a student has their cell phone out or uses their smartwatch to make phone calls, it will be confiscated and parents will have to pick up the item.

Thank you for talking to your child.

JUSD Safe Students & School Reporting

This is an Online Secret Reporting website for students. A "Report It Now link" has been added to all student Chromebook bookmarks and it is located on our school website for you to privately report bad things that are happening to students.

Once you click on the link, you can answer the questions with information that you have seen, heard, or experienced and submit it directly and secretly to school safety staff. You also have the ability to upload or attach screenshots or pictures you may have.

Sharing the information is “telling” not “tattling” and the purpose of the tool is to help you and your friends.

BROKEN DEVICES BROKEN DEVICES

It is important to know that all JUSD issued devices (i.e. chromebooks) are the student's responsibility. We are speaking to our students about how to take care of their devices and ask that families do the same at home. If a student has a device that is lost or damaged beyond repair the full replacement cost is $270. Students will be fined $50 for each event of repairable damage to the Chromebook. There will be no charge for any part covered under warranty.

If you have any questions regarding devices or technology, please visit the JUSD website for information and assistance. Click HERE to visit the page or contact Technology at 951-360-4185.
