Principal's Message
I want to mention first how proud I am of how well the Students of Kenai Alternative represented themselves at the last Board meeting. It was very special to see. Especially knowing the determination and courage it took many of my students to overcome their personal fears and anxieties to stand up and speak on the school’s behalf. GREAT JOB!
Secondly, I would like to thank Sharon Fishel at the Alaska Department of Education for accepting my request for $6,800 to fund a third round of After School Academy. Students access the Academy to take Culinary Arts and Visual Art classes.
We are running the next set of student interviews for next year. Interviews are set for May 12th to the 22nd. If you know of any students interested, please encourage them to call. And to add to that, we are building a set of student and parent testimonials to link to our web site. If you are interested in telling your story about what made the Alt a great place for you or your student, please let me know or send me a video.
In this newsletter I am highlighting the work of our Journalism class as they produce a student-driven paper. I hope you enjoy.
