⭐ PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE ⭐
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to our Week 7 newsletter! It’s hard to believe we are already in the second half of Term 1.
As we transition into new classes, some students may find this change a bit challenging.
There are several reasons for this, including:
Adjusting to a new teacher with different teaching styles and classroom routines
Navigating different expectations as they progress to a new stage—particularly for students moving from Kindergarten to Year 1, Year 2 to Year 3, and Year 4 to Year 5
Shifting away from familiar friends
Encountering more challenging academic tasks
Adapting to a new classroom environment
If your child is feeling unhappy in their new class, it’s important to communicate openly with them about their feelings. Validating their emotions and working collaboratively with their teacher can help address any concerns. This might involve discussing potential solutions, such as enhancing social skills, improving classroom dynamics, or adjusting learning methods based on their specific needs. Remember, students need time to adjust to their new situations. Please feel free to reach out if your child requires additional support.
Introducing Mrs. Medrano
We are excited to announce that Mrs. Medrano will be the new teacher for 3/4 Jade. She has been a regular casual teacher at Regents Park Public School and is well-known and respected by both staff and students. Welcome aboard, Mrs. Medrano!
Iftar Celebration
Our annual Iftar will take place on Wednesday, March 26. We invite you to join us and bring a plate of food to share. Everyone is welcome!
Mother's Day Stall
Thanks to our generous and enthusiastic parents, we are organising a Mother's Day Stall for Term 2. Please keep an eye out for further information regarding what children can purchase and how you can assist. A heartfelt thank you to all our parent helpers!
NAPLAN Updates
As of this writing, our Year 3 and Year 5 students have successfully completed three days of NAPLAN assessments. Well done to all students who participated! We extend our gratitude to Ms. Dakmak and her team for their efforts in ensuring the smooth running of these assessments. Thank you also to all the teachers who supervised the assessments and to Miss Martyn for preparing our technology on time.
Upcoming Events
We have many exciting activities coming up in the next few weeks, including the Easter Hat Parade, Iftar, Harmony Day, and Cross Country. Please remember to check the calendar for updates and reminders.
As always, if you have any concerns or feedback, please don’t hesitate to come and see me.
Warm regards,
Jodie Landon
Principal
Student Representative Council 2025
Celebrating Student Leadership
On Thursday, 13th March, we will officially welcome and celebrate our newly elected Student Representative Council (SRC) members) at a special assembly. The SRC plays a vital role in giving students a voice, allowing them to contribute ideas, make decisions, and help shape positive changes within our school. These students have been chosen by their peers to represent their classes, and we are excited to see them take on this leadership responsibility.
Throughout the year, our SRC members will work closely with staff and students to organise initiatives, share student perspectives, and support school events. Their leadership will help create a more inclusive and engaging school environment for everyone. We look forward to working with them and seeing the impact they will make!
Ms Tatarynowicz

SRC Hosting K-2 Assembly

They did a fantastic job leading the event, showcasing their leadership skills and confidence. It was great to see them take on this important role, and we look forward to their contributions throughout the year.

🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎
Our class has been busy learning about time and its importance in our daily lives. As part of our lessons, students created their own analog clocks, helping them understand how to read and interpret time accurately. Learning to tell time is a vital skill as it helps students develop numeracy, problem-solving, and time management skills. Understanding time allows students to plan their day, follow schedules, and develop independence in organising their activities. By engaging in hands-on activities like making clocks, students gain a deeper understanding of how time works and why it plays such a crucial role in their everyday routines.

🔍 K Mauve in the Spotlight 🔍
K Mauve have been busy learning across all curriculum areas
Students have been working hard on their maths skills, practising counting and matching. In literacy, they have been focusing on letter recognition and writing. In science, they have been exploring the concept of living and non-living things. To bring their learning to life, they are conducting an exciting experiment to see how plants absorb water and transport it through their vascular system using colour-changing flowers and celery. It has been a fantastic hands-on way to deepen their understanding of plant science. 🌱✨

🏐 Regents Park learn Newcomb Ball 🏐
At school, students are developing essential skills through Newcomb Ball and other active sports. Newcomb Ball is a fantastic team game that helps students improve their hand-eye coordination, teamwork, and strategic thinking. It also builds confidence in throwing, catching, and movement, which are fundamental to many other sports.
Engaging in active sports not only keeps students physically fit but also teaches important life skills such as communication, cooperation, and resilience. These activities encourage a healthy lifestyle, improve focus in the classroom, and foster a sense of teamwork and fair play. By participating in a variety of sports, students gain confidence, social skills, and a lifelong appreciation for staying active.
