Round Hill School News
December 2025
Message From Our Principal
As the weather has cooled off the time has just flown by. We are already down to our last month of 2025! Winter weather has arrived. The last week of November has brought much colder temperatures. A new practice was put in place in BRSD on November 27, 2024. If the temperature dips to -20 (including windchill) the students will stay inside for recess. The Polar Bear Club will run this year. This is when parents sign a consent form which gives permission for their child to be out in temperatures between -20 and -25. More information about the Polar Bear Club will be coming out in the next few weeks!
For those days when the students get to go outside and play, they need to be dressed for the weather. Please remind your child to wear her/his toque, gloves, winter coat, boots and snow pants. Also, if your child is in junior high, please remind him/her that he/she needs to have an indoor pair of gym shoes and an outside pair of boots that they are to take off when they come into the school. Many of the junior high students are still coming off the bus in hoodies -some are still in shorts. Please have a conversation with your child in junior high about the dangers of not being dressed for the weather when they are on a bus.
Christmas vacation is a short three weeks away. Between now and then, there are a number of important dates, which you can view on the calendar in this newsletter. Also in December, The basketball teams are preparing for their first games of the season on January 8 and 12. This game will be at home vs Sedgewick. As well, our elementary students are busy practicing for the Christmas Concert on December 17th!
At Round Hill School we continue to recognize students who are respectful, put in a great effort, have a good attitude, and show leadership (R.E.A.L). Our next recognition assembly will be on Wednesday, December 3rd @ 2:50. Our next Parent Council meeting will also be on December 3rd @ 6:30.
Remember, if you have any questions, comments or concerns, please call me at the school anytime!
Merry Christmas,
Brian Horbay

Dress Weather Appropriate
We understand the need for some kids to stay "cool" all year round, but we still ask that the kids dress appropriate for the weather. The bus drivers will not allow shorts to be worn during the winter months on the bus. If a break down were to happen, those shorts will not keep them warm enough in the event that happens. Kids can change into shorts while in the school, but outside the school and on the bus, you must wear weather appropriate clothes (i.e. pants not shorts, toques, gloves/mittens).
BASKETBALL
Check out KidSport Canada Camrose website by clicking here for information on how to obtain up to $350 per kid/year for sports participation. Check the poster further down below from KidSports Canada.
