Excited for a GREAT Week!
Dear Families,
This is an exciting week at NPES - Red Ribbon week AND our first Family Night of the year!
Our first family night is THIS Thursday on October 23rd from 6:00-7:30 PM. The theme of this event is the book, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? We will have MANY fun things that night - free food (while supplies last), Scholastic Book Fair, free book giveaway, outdoor story walk, obstacle course in the gym, craft, Bingo and more! See more info further down in the newsletter. Be sure to notice information about the collection drive for the animal sanctuary as well as the stuffed animal truck (similar to Build-a-Bear).
Ms. Ivy is hoping to have some donations to give to the Broadbent Wildlife Sanctuary (they are bringing animals to us for a fraction of the usual cost). If you can donate any of the items on the list (further down in the newsletter), I know she -- AND THE ANIMALS -- would be grateful!
Report cards will be coming out this week! You are always welcome to reach out to your child's teacher or administration to discuss your child's progress and goals.
Proofs from our recent pictures should be here any day! They did not arrive last week. We will send them home as soon as they arrive.
We will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week next week! At this age, we promote healthy habits and choices and remind students to never take or ingest anything from another child or an adult they do not know/trust. We will have some simple things to do each day (wear red, crazy socks, hat day, etc.) to help reinforce these points to students.
If you need assistance with the app in any way, please call the NPES office at 270-351-4464 or email laurabeth.hayes@hardin.kyschools.us
Sincerely,
Mrs. Hayes (principal)

Donations for Broadbent Wildlife Sanctuary
Help us help a wonderful organization!
We are excited to have animals for your students to meet during our upcoming family night!
To support the wildlife sanctuary, we are collecting the following:
cat food, dog food, bird feed, mealworms, wildlife feed, kitten formula, blankets, cleaning supplies
Teddy Bear Mobile Bus (Like Build-a-Bear)
The bus is coming to our family night!
We have a fun optional offering for our families during our family literacy event - Teddy Bear Mobile! This is a fun bus that is a mobile "build-a-bear" on wheels! Students get to stuff their animal and receive a bag, birth certificate AND a NPES shirt if you order in advance. We HIGHLY recommend pre-orders because the line was VERY long last year. We will be letting pre-orders hop on the bus first, so please pre-order if you plan to purchase a stuffed animal. If we receive 70 pre-orders, we will earn $5 an animal for our school. Pre-order using the link below!
October School Lunch Menu
Please note that our lunch menu will sometimes differ from what is listed due to availability of items and delivery dates to our school sometimes being different. All students may eat breakfast and lunch for FREE.
Walking Field Trip Kindergarten
Kinder parents - a paper permission form went home regarding a WALKING field trip to North Middle School. Please send it back ASAP!
Reading Tree at NPES
Let's fill our reading tree this month!
Our reading tree was filled on every branch for September. We LOVE seeing students reading at home with their families!!!! The Octob er reading tree leaves were sent home home or should be coming home ASAP, and you can print out from the link below as well! If you need more, just let your teacher know. READ TOGETHER AS A FAMILY!
Week At-a-Glance
Portrait of a Learner
HCS has a campaign to help recognize and celebrate certain qualities in students that represent a successful student! This is called, Portrait of a Learner. Each month, we are focusing on different ways we see evidence of those traits at NPES. This month was "effective communicator." We will be celebrating some of our effective communicators at our PBIS assembly after Fall Break. We love how our teachers and staff are always helping our students learn to speak up for their wants and needs, appropriately participate in class and engage in great conversation with peers. Mrs. Goodman's class can be seen engaging in discussion as effective communicators in this photo!
Save the Date!
