Colorado State Assessment Letter
Each year, students in Colorado participate in state-required assessments that provide valuable
information to families, educators, and the community. These assessments are mandated by
state and/or federal law and help ensure that all students receive a high-quality education
aligned to Colorado Academic Standards. Results help us understand how well students are
meeting grade-level expectations and guide instructional planning and program improvement
across the district.

This program begins in January and meets one night a week at GVH. All high schoolers are welcome to participate! A rep will be at CBCS on Thursday, October 22nd at Titan Time to discuss the program and distribute applications. Encourage your HS student to stop by! HS Girls Basketball Sign-Up Meeting
On Thursday, October 29th during high school lunch, there will be a sign-meeting for those interested in playing HS girls basketball. Questions? Please contact coach Anna Bressinck at abressinck@gunnisonschools.net.
Winter Sports Meeting
Winter sports meeting for HIGH SCHOOL will be held on Wednesday, November 18th at 5pm in the HS gym - this is required for ALL winter sport athletes, parents and coaches.
Winter Sports
It's winter sports time! Official CHSAA winter sports practices begin 11/9 for hockey and 11/16 for basketball - MS Boys basketball starts this week and MS Girls basketball will begin after the December break.
Before your student can participate, please complete the following:
Sports Physical: A current sports physical must be completed by a licensed physician using the attached official CHSAA physical evaluation form and uploaded to your student's Arbiter Sports account. This is a CHSAA requirement for participation in all high school athletics. Schools and athletic programs may be subject to CHSAA audits and programs can face consequences if student-athletes are participating without a current physical on file. We appreciate your partnership in helping us remain compliant with these state requirements and, most importantly, ensuring our student-athletes are healthy and safe to participate. Students will have a one-week grace period at the beginning of the season to complete and upload their physical. After that, they will not be permitted to continue participating until the requirement has been met.
Registration: Register your student-athlete through CBCS's Arbiter Sports registration site using THIS link for HIGH SCHOOL and THIS link for MIDDLE SCHOOL- this is required for ALL student-athletes.
Participation Fee: Pay your participation fee through MyPaymentsPlus - the link for payment is directly integrated at the end of the registration process in CBCS's Arbiter Sports registration site above.
- Student-athlete participation fees are essential to the success of our athletic programs. These fees help fund all in-season program needs, including equipment, supplies, and other operational expenses that allow us to provide a quality experience for our athletes. Without these funds, we cannot effectively operate our programs.
- Please note that school athletics are extracurricular, at-will programs and are funded separately from the school's educational budget. Athletic participation fees directly support our sports programs and help ensure we can provide safe, well-equipped, and meaningful opportunities for all student-athletes.
- To ensure fairness and sustainability, student-athletes will have a one-week grace period at the start of the season. After that, they will not be permitted to participate unless their athletic fee has been paid or you have communicated directly with me to discuss financial assistance or a payment plan. We are committed to working with families when needed, so please don't hesitate to reach out. Once your student-athlete has completed registration, we will use that roster to create a GWSD Chat group for each team. This will replace TeamSnap and will be the only method of communication between coaches, parents, and student-athletes moving forward.
Do you have a new student at the school? Did you transfer from another High School? Reach out to Abby amcdonnell@gunnisonschools.net ASAP to make sure we have the CHSAA transfer waiver completed as it is required BEFORE you can begin practicing at the HS level.
Thank you for helping us get everyone ready for a successful fall season! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
We can't wait to see everyone back on campus and on the field/court/track/rink.
Go Titans!

Drop-Offs During the Day
We’ve noticed an increase in items being dropped off for students during the school day. To minimize classroom disruptions and due to limited office staffing, please note that we will not be calling classes to notify students about dropped-off items such as lunches or other non-essential items. If an item is medical or urgently needed, this policy does not apply.
If your student forgets their lunch, please know that free hot lunch is available each day. Students who are expecting a drop-off are welcome to stop by the office during passing periods to check for their items. Thank you for your understanding.
Report an Absence
Please email CBSSattendance@gunnisonschools.net if your student will be absent or needs to miss any classes. Please note, for absences to be medically excused, please provide a doctor's note.
