Celebrating Our Cultures and Traditions
A huge thank you to the many families who volunteered to share their cultures and traditions from around the world at Sprague’s Annual Family Traditions Fair! Twenty cultures were represented, giving our students the opportunity to learn about traditional games, art, languages, clothing, music, holidays, customs, and family traditions and seen in these pictures and on this video. This special event helped our students celebrate and appreciate the rich cultural diversity within our Sprague community, said Multilingual Services Coordinator Jackie Bever, who organized the event with colleagues Anna Ahne and Amy Colon.

Weekly Roar Reading Tips
A Reading Campout!
From a Parent: “I decided to try a “reading campout” with my kids. We checked out library books and pitched a tent in the backyard. Then, my husband and I sat in lawn chairs with our own books while the kids read. We heard our older daughter helping our younger son sound out words. When it was her turn to read, we listened to her explain the meaning of words to her little brother. Since that night, our kids have asked for more reading campouts. Now we’re planning a real camping trip and the kids are deciding which books they want to take and read to each other!”
Try this activity with your children, and if it’s rainy weather, try a fun reading campout in your living room with sheets for a tent and bring in the lawn chairs!
