We are excited to kick off Computer Science Education Week and Hour of Code next week on December 6-12 with our students at Van Meter. We have celebrated this special event for the last several years and tie in coding and computer science to all of our grades at Van Meter throughout the entire year as well.

CS Connections

Our newest curriculum makes the connections between learning computer science and other subjects like math, language arts, science, and social studies. Through CS Connections, K-12 classrooms explore their usual subjects in exciting new ways! CS Connections modules are a structured series of lessons that integrate computer science learning into core subject areas like math, ELA, and science.

Each Unplugged activity is available to download in PDF format, with full instructions and worksheets. Background sections explain the significance of each activity to computer science, and answers are provided for all problems. All you need for most of these activities are curiosity and enthusiasm.
