Our Week at Reutter School
Week of February 23, 2026
Principal's Message
Dear Reutter School Families/Guardians,
This week at Reutter School we celebrated a week-long committeement to beind kind to each through our Week of Kindness Spirit Week actvitiies. A significant milestone occurred on Tuesday as our fifth-grade students reached their 1,000th day of school since kindergarten. This achievement was marked by 100-themed academic activities during enrichment periods and special hallway decorations. Additionally, students and staff participated in "80s Day" to recognize that only 80 days remain in the current school year.
Our commitment to student leadership continued this Wednesday as the Safety Patrol and Counselor Helpers visited the Gloucester County Courthouse, following the Student Council’s trip the previous week. During the visit, students toured the justice complex, participated in a mock trial, and engaged in a question-and-answer session with a Supreme Court Judge to learn about the judicial system.
To ensure school safety, we successfully conducted both a fire drill and a school security drill this week, allowing us to test our emergency protocols. Looking ahead to next week, we invite families to attend the Student Council’s Family BINGO Night on Wednesday evening. We will also conclude the week by celebrating our school spirit with a Reutter RAM School Spirit Day on Friday.
Thank you for your continued support of our students and programs.
Sincerely,
Mr. Theodore Peters
Principal

Drill Notification
Dear Reutter School Families,
There will be an increased police presence at Reutter School next Tuesday as law enforcement officers conduct a tabletop drill with school district administration. Please be assured that this drill is a training exercise for school and emergency personnel to collaborate on various school security procedures. It will not directly involve any Reutter School students, and there will be no disruption to the school day. This partnership with law enforcement is part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and security of our school community.
Should you have any questions, you can reach me at 856-694-0223.
Thank you,

A Message from the Curriculum Office
February 2026
Dear Parents/Guardians:
As part of the multi-tiered system of support, we conduct universal screening assessments three times a year to identify our students’ specific areas of strength and weakness. Pending those results, students may be further assessed before being placed in instructional tiers to support individualized needs. Individual student data is analyzed several times yearly to ensure students receive necessary and relevant support throughout the academic year.
The following assessments are utilized as our universal screening tools for both Reading and Math:
Fall - DIBELS, Math Interview/Math Reasoning Inventory, iReady Diagnostic for Reading & Math
Winter - DIBELS (February), Math Interview or Math Reasoning Inventory (February), and iReady Reading & Math (February)
Spring - DIBELS, Math Interview or Math Reasoning Inventory, iReady Diagnostic for Reading and Math
In February, our students took the mid-year iReady diagnostic assessment for Reading and Mathematics. Parent reports are now accessible on the Realtime Parent Portal. The parent report documents appear under the Menu option “Documents.”
Additionally, the following linked resources about the results of the Diagnostic and an assessment explanation are available.
Please don't hesitate to contact your child's teacher with any questions or concerns regarding the iReady parent report.
If your child requires additional support through tier 2 or 3, you will receive another letter in the coming weeks from the Curriculum Department; each tier of support is defined below:
Tier 1: Encompasses all students and provides high-quality learning environments, evidence-based curricular and instructional practices, and a continuum of supports and interventions in general education classrooms.
Tier 2: Provides supplemental support and interventions that may be delivered in small-group instruction, either in or outside the classroom. Interventions include evidence-based instructional practices and interventions that increase in intensity, frequency, and duration based on the data review during regular progress monitoring intervals.
Tier 3: provides intensive support and interventions that may be delivered in a small group or provided outside of the classroom. There may be adaptations of supports and interventions based on an individual student's performance using data reviewed during frequent progress monitoring intervals.
Respectfully,
Jaime Doldan
Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction

A Look At This Past Week...
Milestone Achievement: 1,000 Days of School
On Tuesday, the fifth-grade class at Reutter School reached a significant educational milestone: their 1,000th day of school since beginning kindergarten. To recognize this achievement, students were greeted with commemorative decorations and participated in a series of academic activities focused on the number 100 during their homeroom enrichment period.
In addition to the 1,000-day celebration, students and staff participated in an "80s Day" dress-up event. This theme was selected to mark the countdown of exactly 80 days remaining in the current school year.
Reutter Student Leaders Visit Gloucester County Justice Complex
Over the past two Wednesdays, student leaders from the Caroline L. Reutter School Student Council, Safety Patrol, and Counselor Helpers participated in an educational field trip to the Gloucester County Justice Complex. These visits were designed to provide students with a practical look at the functions of the judicial system and the various roles within a courthouse.
During the visit, students received a comprehensive tour of the facility, learning about the security protocols and administrative operations required to manage the county's legal proceedings. A primary highlight of the trip was the opportunity for students to participate in a mock trial. Under the guidance of court personnel, students assumed the roles of judges, attorneys, witnesses, and jurors. This hands-on experience allowed them to apply critical thinking and public speaking skills while navigating a simulated legal case.
The experience was further enriched by a meeting with Judge Zeigler. Students engaged in a question-and-answer session, where they learned about the daily responsibilities of a judge, the educational path required to enter the legal profession, and the importance of impartiality in the justice system. By connecting classroom lessons on civics and government to real-world applications, this trip provided our student leaders with a deeper understanding of their community's legal foundations.
Instrumental Lessons
Students are engaged in instrumental music lessons to learn the fundamentals of their specific instruments. These weekly lessons serve a dual purpose: building a strong technical foundation and preparing the repertoire for the school’s upcoming Annual Spring Music Concert.
Pictured here are our fifth-grade saxophonists as they refine their technique and ensemble playing under the direction of Music Teacher Mr. Griffin.
Grade 5 ELA
This week, fifth-grade ELA students continued their reading of Lois Lowry’s historical fiction novel, Number the Stars. As they navigate the chapters, classes are focusing on identifying and applying pertinent vocabulary essential to understanding the story’s historical context and character development. By integrating targeted vocabulary review with their daily reading, students are strengthening both their reading comprehension and their ability to analyze complex themes within the text.
