Dear Monomoy Middle School Families,

October marks a vibrant and exciting month for our school community as we are in full swing with our wealth of curricular and extracurricular opportunities available to our students. These activities play a vital role in the holistic development of our young learners. These experiences extend beyond the classroom, fostering teamwork, leadership, and a deeper understanding of various interests and talents. Thank you to all the staff, students, and families who have worked to provide these opportunities for students. Whether it is clubs, sports, seminar enrichment, or exciting field trips, we are thrilled to work with our students as they continue to uncover their areas of passion and interest within the middle school offerings. Together, we can continue to provide a well-rounded and enriching educational experience.

In partnership,

Abby Dudley

Principal

ANNOUNCEMENTS

MRMS Counseling: We are excited to share a resource developed by our counseling and student services department. The Student Support Services website has an abundance of information and community resources to support the social-emotional well being of our families and students. We may all enjoy taking some time to explore the virtual meditation and relaxation rooms.

As some may be aware, we have a grade-level model within our counseling department. The counselors are assigned to a grade level and they will loop with the group through the students' three years at the middle school. This allows our counselors to get to know families and students from the beginning, and provide support to other staff as students move through the grades. In addition to the grade level counselors, we continue to have the additional support of the talented Ms. Scaficchia in the role of school psychologist.

  • Class of 2031: Ms. Bay
  • Class of 2030: Ms. Chace
  • Class of 2029: Ms. Hayden

MRMS is Making News! Congratulations to Mia Z for earning the Athlete of the Week in The Cape Cod Chronicle! Ms. Lindsey Allen also made the paper for her commitment to ecological improvement (pictured below).

Costume Social: We will be hosting our annual MRMS Costume Social on 10/27. Thank you to the senior class for arranging this. Stay tuned for more details!

Progress Notes: Progress notes for quarter 1 will be posted on October 16th. At MRMS, progress notes are posted in Aspen and mark the midpoint of the grading period. This is a great time for families to check in with students around their academics. The report cards will also be posted in Aspen, but will also be sent home with students. Please click here for a list of the grading and testing dates for the year.

Fall Conferences: Thank you to everyone who has signed up for conferences. Sign ups for conferences are posted on our website. Conference slots are 10 minutes and run from 12:30-3:20 pm on October 17 and October 19 (both of which are half-days for students).

Principal’s Reading Challenge: Congratulations to all the student winners of our reading challenge. From Yeti's to airpods, Kindles to flights and fishing, we are so excited to celebrate our MRMS readers!
