No School Tomorrow for Martin Luther King, Jr Day!
Dear BES Families,
It is time to begin planning for Spring Conferences! They will be held on February 13th and are by appointment and teacher request only. If your teacher requests a conference, you can schedule a time on your Skyward account. If you are unsure about whether or not to meet, reach out to your child's teacher and connect! The conference scheduler in Skyward will open on Friday, January 23rd.
We have been informing families of school material and nutrition fees that are needing to be paid. Please contact our office if you would like assistance in making a payment or putting together a payment plan. We are happy to help!
This week we learned about the life and work of Martin Luther King, Jr. Our incredible students were challenged to Live Like Martin. That can be helping hold the door open for someone, being kind to a classmate who may be struggling, being a good sport on the court or mats, or even helping with chores around the house without being asked. I hope you are able to reap some of the benefits with the chores suggestion this weekend! They have been seen stepping up and being great examples of kindness and respect this week. We have also loved the quotes of love, support, and kindness spread around the school this week!
Have a great extended weekend,
Cindy Apple, Principal

Attendance and School Calendar
Please take note of our school calendars when planning your family's vacations.
Attendance is a focus at BES and we want your children at school! It can be very difficult for students to get caught up sometimes when they miss for extended periods of time. For example, when a student misses a week of school, that is up to 450 minutes of math instruction they are missing!
If your family does have a trip planned, we do not provide lessons or materials ahead of those trips. Teachers will work with you to schedule times when your student can be given that instruction and guided work time to ensure mastery of skills. This may have to happen before or after school, but we will also try to work during the school day as well.
GREAT school habits now help prepare students for future success!
