Academy Announcements
Dear Academy families and friends,
The school year is off to a great start, it feels like just yesterday we were at the ice cream social talking about the new school year and here we are two weeks in. The students have made the transition to the new grades successfully and the kindergarteners are getting into the Academy culture with their rainbow days and learning all the facets of ROAR (our PBIS expectations)...the excitement of the new school year is quite contagious. I also want to thank all of our parents, families, and students who came out for the Open House. While it was unexpected to lose power, it was great to feel the energy and positive vibes a new school year brings, before we know it, we'll be hosting Parent/Teacher conferences which will be another opportunity for families to connect with the staff and greater school community. As the year unfolds, please be sure to check out all of the pictures here and on our socials.
On Tuesday, we'll have our first PD Half-Day of school. This will be a first for the kinders. Please be sure to send in a note should there be a change in your normal routine. Just a reminder the top lot closes 11:45am for student pick-up. Please be sure to review these plans with your youngster.
Reminders
- Ms. Anne in the cafeteria wanted to remind parents that students who bring lunch from home but would like milk will still need to purchase it for $.50
- Also a reminder to parents at morning arrival that there is no adult supervision until 8:50am and that students should be with their adult on campus until then.
- Updating Chromebooks-many of the devices are out of date with the Chrome OS. Just go to settings, click help, and select about Chrome OS and check for updates. This can only be done at home but many of the devices need the updating as our software depends on it.
Thank you for a great start and all of your support!
Mr. Higgins

Staffing Needs
Academy Avenue is looking for two building substitutes to join the team. A building substitute would be part of the team and help cover classes when teachers are absent or when we have team meetings during the day. These individuals get to work with different grades throughout the building and are very helpful in supporting our classrooms and programs. If you know of someone who would be a good fit for this position, please have them apply on schoolspring.com or contact the school office at 781.335.4717.
Weekend Backpack Program
The Weymouth Food Pantry has partnered with Weymouth Public Schools to continue the Backpack Program, which provides food to participating students weekly to meet their nutritional needs over the weekend. Bags include items such as juice boxes, granola bars, mac & cheese cups, goldfish crackers, and milk. The menu will vary weekly.
Teachers and staff will pack a bag for each child and place it in their locker on Friday morning. Children can pick up their backpack bag when they leave school on Friday. These bags are free, open to all students, and sponsored by the Weymouth Food Pantry.
Please complete the Google Form below if your child would benefit from additional food.
Weymouth residents are also encouraged to check out WFP’s pop-up pantry schedule here: Weymouth Food Pantry Calendar
