Making It Count: Attendance Information and Guidelines
Welcome back to another year at Andover High School! As a staff we are excited to get things going this week and are eager for students to arrive. This year our focus is making it count each and every day. Partnering with each and every student, regular attendance throughout the school year is a huge priority. Students are expected to be in school in attendance for all 5 periods every day unless a parent/guardian submits an approved absence. This includes our closed campus for lunches. With our combined support, our students will graduate empowered to achieve their personal and professional goals, engage the world, and thrive in the 21st century.
The below video provides more information on how regular attendance should be a priority for everyone:
Here's to a great year for our entire Andover High School Community!
Go Huskies,

Sept. 8: First Day of School Has New Expectations for Students in Grades 10-12
A new format for the first day of school for high school students is expanding beyond the traditional ninth-grade students only format to bring expectations for students in Grades 10-12 for all high schools in the Anoka-Hennepin School District.
What’s changing: Students in Grades 10-12 will not attend school in person but will be assigned lessons to complete virtually. Students should check into their Google Classrooms for each class period and complete the College and Career Center grade level specific items outlined in the document below.
Why the change: Anoka-Hennepin Schools provide multiple pathways for students to prepare for career and or college readiness following high school. As part of that effort, students will create a Personalized Learning Plan (PLP) starting in Grade 9 and continuing through their high school experience. The activities students begin on September 8, regardless of grade level or post secondary plans, are the beginning of that process.
The schedule: On Sept. 8, incoming freshmen students will follow the in-person orientation schedule. Students starting grades 10-12 will begin their school year and receive information and directions to begin their planning process virtually. Throughout the school year, students will be encouraged to utilize time during late-start Mondays and any unstructured advisement time to complete this important work on their PLPs.
Know the Score: Students will access their PLP through a digital platform called Scoir (pronounced Score) where they will be assigned a variety of career and college readiness activities. The Scoir platform allows for collaboration with parents and guardians in their students' post-secondary education plans. The Scoir platform is accessed by logging in on the district/school website to the A-HConnect for students.
More information: Students will be supported through the Career and College Center at their school with any questions they have. Additional information will be shared throughout the school year in school e-newsletters for parents and guardians and through email communication with students.
How to Report an Absence - Watch This Video:
Absences/Early Dismissals:
- A parent/guardian should use the ParentVue app to report an absence or early dismissal before 7:15 AM. Please note only one ParentVue submission works per day. If you need to change your submission, please call the Main Office.

All doors, with the exception of Door 1, will lock at 7:30 AM when school begins. Any students
coming to school after this time will need to enter the building using Door 1. This is to further
ensure the safety and security of our building and to help better monitor the flow of people coming into the building.
After 7:30 AM, all students entering the building will be required to check in with their student ID or StudentVue at the greeter desk located just inside of Door 1.
Any parents/guardians entering the building will still follow the ID scan procedures and will need to get a printed ID sticker from the greeter desk.
Parking Permits
Parking permits for the 2026-2027 school year are live for purchasing with a very limited quantity remaining. Please access SchoolPay to purchase a permit if needed. For those of you that have purchased a permit, please stop in to see Jill Schmidt in the Attendance Office to pick it up either before/after school or between classes only.
Below is a map showing the flow of traffic as well as the student parking area with permit for the 26-27 school year. All students parking in the school parking lot must have a valid parking permit and follow all parking lot rules and procedures.
Fan Expectations to Ensure Safety at School Events
Safety at school events continues to be a focus area for the district and surrounding communities. Anoka-Hennepin Schools are committed to creating experiences that showcase the talents of student-athletes in an environment that promotes healthy competition. The district continues to implement safety and security practices to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for participants and spectators.
These guidelines limit entrance to students at participating schools with identification and adult supervision for younger students and increased presence of staff and support personnel amongst other strategies in place to keep our activities safe.
As your family makes a plan to attend school events, keep the following guidelines in mind:
Bring student IDs and allow extra time for admission and entry. Students from the hosting and visiting schools are welcome with student ID. No student ID, no entry. Students from any other schools/non-participating schools must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.
Allow extra time for admission and entry. Increased security may mean lines are longer at the entrance gate. Ticket sales time frames may be adjusted during the event, and admission may be denied based on site capacity. Please plan accordingly.
Plan for parent/guardian chaperones in accordance with district guidelines to monitor student activity and behavior. The student-to-adult chaperone ratio is 2:1. Adult chaperones are expected to supervise middle and elementary school students they escorted to the game at all times. Adult chaperones are NOT allowed to leave the stadium without their students. Adult chaperones and students who are unable to follow these guidelines may be asked to leave the facility. Students from any other schools/non-participating schools must also be accompanied by an adult chaperone.
Get behind your team! Spectators are expected to view the event in the appropriate designated seating area.
Leave extra items at home or in your vehicle. Backpacks, large bags/purses and outside food or drink (if concessions are sold on-site) are not allowed. Anoka-Hennepin prohibits weapons, alcoholic beverages, e-cigarettes / vaping, tobacco products and controlled substances.
It takes everyone to keep school events and activities safe. If your student, you or anyone in your family sees something or hears something suspicious or threatening in nature, report the information to school leadership or law enforcement immediately.
Powders and/or airborne irritants prohibited: Students who introduce baby powder or other airborne irritants at events will be removed from the activity and are subject to disciplinary action consistent with district policy. Powders are a health risk and they are prohibited at all events.
Spectators who are unwilling or unable to follow the rules, regulations, or directions from event staff may be asked to leave the event.

E-Bikes, E-motos and Motorized Scooters Not Allowed at School
Minnesota state law places a 15-year-old minimum age restriction for legal operation of any electric-assisted bicycle, commonly called E-Bikes. In addition, Anoka-Hennepin places restrictions regarding the operation of these vehicles and motorized scooters and e-motos on school property.
District guidelines: In order to ensure safety around school, Anoka-Hennepin Schools prohibits the use of E-bikes, e-motos and motorized scooters on elementary and middle school property during the school day and immediately before and after school. School property includes sidewalks, trails, fields, parking lots and roadways.
E-Bike basics: E-Bikes come in three categories and can reach speeds of between 20 and 28 mph. While wearing a helmet is recommended, it is not required by state law. Riders must be age 15 or older and must also obey any local guidelines put in place by other jurisdictions.
With the age restriction, students in middle school or younger are not legally authorized to operate these forms of transportation. The School District does not have restrictions regarding the use of standard bicycles on school property.
Go deeper: Review important information from area law enforcement partners regarding the operation of these forms of transportation on city streets and trails. Anoka County, Anoka, Blaine, Ramsey, Brooklyn Park, Champlin and Dayton.
Device Protection Plan
Tech Protect: Device Protection Plan available for families with students assigned district Chromebooks
Technology plays an important role in preparing students for life, and Chromebooks are utilized as a daily learning tool in Anoka-Hennepin middle and high school classrooms. Anoka-Hennepin students in grades 6-12 are assigned a Chromebook from the school district to ensure access to technology systems that support classroom learning.
Over 28,000 Chromebooks are distributed to students the first week of school. As careful as students and schools are, accidents do happen each year - and thousands of Chromebooks are returned at the end of the school year with damages.
Families have the option to enroll in the Device Protection Plan. The enrollment window is open until Friday, Oct. 30, 2026.
The Technology Protection Plan is optional; it is not required, however, by electing not to participate in the Protection Plan, families may be required to reimburse the school district for the replacement or repair of damaged Chromebooks assigned to their student/s. Damaged or broken screens may cost between $50 to $150 depending on parts needed; or the replacement cost for the entire device could be up to $410.
Families can opt-in to the Device Protection Plan by logging into the ParentVue app.
Select your middle or high school student.
Select “fees.”
Select “Pay for Meals, Activities, Fees here.”
Select “Opt-in: Technology Protection Plan.”
The plan cost is $20 per student or $60 per family per school year.
If the student qualifies for free or reduced-price school meals in the 2026-27 school year, the cost of the Protection Plan will be reduced to $0.
Repairs with the Protection Plan are subject to a $20 deductible.
