Summer Rising Update
Student Health: Immunization Reminders
A healthy school setting gives all students the best chance to learn and grow, and vaccines are a critical part of protecting our students and school communities. In addition, as you know, we are required to follow the New York State guidelines for children aged 2-months to 18-years-old who are entering or attending child care, public school, or private school to be vaccinated against certain diseases.
An immunization requirements family letter (translations to come) was sent home with families today. Please review your child's immunization history with their healthcare providers, so that they may be up-to-date for the start of the school year. For more information on immunizations, please visit the Infohub (Health Forms and Notices page here).
NYCPS Summer Meals
New York City’s FREE Summer Meals program to encourage students to stay active and eat healthy kicks off on June 28th, and continues throughout the summer.
- Free summer meals will be available to all children and teens ages 18 years and younger at locations throughout New York City from 8:00– 9:15 a.m. for breakfast and 11:00 a.m.–1:15 p.m. for lunch (times are subject to change). No registration, documentation, or ID is required.
- For more information about the program, please visit www.schools.nyc.gov/summermeals
Summer Reading Guide
As we work together to support all students in becoming strong readers, families can play an especially key role during the summer months in supporting their child’s continued literacy development at home. This Summer Reading Guide provides K - 12 families with tips, book recommendations, resources, and activities to support their children in building their literacy skills.
In addition, all NYC Public School students can access the Citywide Digital Library on Sora all summer long 24/7 and add their public library cards to expand access to eBooks and audiobooks.
i-Ready Summer Access
Next year, we will continue to use i-Ready as an online diagnostic tool to support students in math and ELA. All students have received their account information. If you do not have your child's account information, please contact their teacher(s).
Your child(ren) can access i-Ready until August 24, 2023. At that time, i-Ready will begin preparations for the 2023-2024 academic year
