Advanced Academics & GT Updates
October 2023
Discerning Minds
It was wonderful to have so many discerning minds join us on Sept. 28 as we discussed legislative updates and explored priorities for the worlds of both advanced academics & GT. In addition to a variety of other updates and resources in this month's newsletter, you'll also find the slides from our Sept. 28 coordinator meeting below. We know there is much to monitor and consider going forward, and we are here to support your work.
SECONDARY ADVANCED ACADEMICS
Region 10's advanced academics services are part of the Instructional Practices Package and align with CCMR as well as secondary core content areas to support ALL students.

Compliance: Record Keeping for Required GT Hours
- Eduphoria
- district/ campus wide spread sheets
- Google forms with certificates as attachments
Region 10 encourages teachers to keep both digital and hard copies of all of the professional learning courses they take so that they will not lose them as they transfer districts or change jobs. Unfortunately, if teachers cannot prove they have previously taken GT Foundations, they may end up having to retake the initial 30-hour training.
For Region 10 PD, teachers can access certificates directly from their Region 10 account. They will sign in and select “Registrations and Certificates” from the menu. Then, select "Past Sessions."
If they need help finding certificates earned within the last five years, they can reach out to the help desk at Region 10. We have limited access to past years' certificates, as we serve over 60,000 teachers. Because of system limitations, Region 10 cannot run accurate reports of GT hours for all teachers currently employed in any given district.
Don't forget!!! GT 6-hour asynchronous update: Creative Confidence: A 6-hour GT Book Study
