Wingate Elementary September 2025

Message from Mrs. Enriquez Message from Mrs. Enriquez

Wingate Families-

What a great start to our school year! Boy have we grown-we are up to 552 students and that number will continue to grow as we add more PreK students to fill our remaining spots. Thanks to all parents and adults dropping off students in the AM! Drop off is running very smooth-thanks for following the front circle expectations and using the crosswalks.

At Wingate Elementary we take the first few weeks to get to know students, build a sense of family and teamwork in our classrooms and practice routines, procedures and expectations. As these procedures and expectations become routine, we start introducing curriculum to students. You will start to see more learning and curriculum items coming home in teacher newsletters and with students soon.

It was great to see so many families last Friday night at the Back to School Bash that PTO sponsors each year. We hope you can join us in September for more Wingate Elementary activities. Thanks for a great start to our school year and for supporting our teachers. We are so lucky to have such a collaborative and positive school community!

Positive Office Referrals Positive Office Referrals

Congratulations to these students who were nominated by an adult in the building to receive a positive phone call home and a free ice cream at lunch or coin for the book vending machine!

Stanlee Birk, 1st grade-I was out of the building on Friday and the substitute mentioned that Stanlee went out of his way to help a classmate by giving them one of his extra play-dohs because they didn’t have any. The substitute said he went above and beyond showing kindness.

Tanner Cherry, 5th grade-Tanner has been extra helpful to adults and students all week. He is so polite and kind to everyone. He has exemplified all of our core values since the first day of school!

Clark Snyder, 1st grade-Clark helped clean up our classroom. She cleaned up her own stuff as well as other students that needed a little extra help. She is always willing to lend a hand and show our class what it means to be a good friend.

Connor Creedon, 5th grade-After Mr. Ambuehl and Mrs. Enriquez read to our grade level both days, Connor went around the common area and straightened up and pushed in all the chairs on both days. He is a new student to Wingate but he has been such a great role model for other students! He is always respectful to his classmates and teachers and follows expectations quickly. What a great addition to our classroom!

Elizabeth LeChien, 5th grade-After coming back from recess 5th grade was walking back to their classrooms and nearly every student walked by or through a large mess of chips that someone had dropped in the hallway except for Izzy. Without being asked, she went to the bathroom to grab paper towels and fully cleaned up the mess even though her classmates ignored it and she did not make the mess. She has also been very responsible about keeping her desk and surroundings clean and holding others responsible for the mess that they make.

Declan Worley, 2nd grade-Declan noticed that another classmate was out of the room during our pack-up time. He went and got the other students backpack and water bottle and hung it on the back of his chair. We have specials at the end of the day, so it would've been a rush for that student to quickly grab everything before dismissal.

Fundraiser: Fun Run Fundraiser: Fun Run

Fun Run Fundraiser

We are excited again to host our big fundraiser at Wingate, the Boosterthon Fun Run. This fundraiser will focus on character education traits for a 7 day period finishing with our event day known as the Fun Run. It is a great opportunity to support our school by sponsoring students for the Fun Run. The program will take place beginning September 24 with the final event occurring on October 2. Please look for further information in the weeks to come providing details of how family and friends can participate through giving. This is the only fundraiser Wingate does during the school year.

PTO-

Wingate is very lucky to have a very active PTO. Please consider joining the Wingate Elementary PTO (Parent Teacher Organization). Membership is just $5 per person, and all membership dues go directly back to the school. PTO funds events throughout the year that enhance the educational experience of all students at Wingate. No volunteering is necessary, but members will receive emails with first dibs of volunteer opportunities at the school, as well as reminders for school events. We meet every other month in the evenings at Wingate. Please go to our FutureFund page to register your membership today! This year you will have access to the membership directory so you can get contact information for your child’s friends if their parents also join PTO. Participation in the directory is optional. We’re looking forward to working with you this school year!
