Outstanding Safety Award Small Size Government Agency Outstanding Safety Award Small Size Government Agency

On October 7, our school was recognized at the 16th Biennial Pacific Rim Safety and Health Conference for safety. At Haleʻiwa Elementary, we are a small school with a big heart so our staff are fully committed to do their very best to provide a safe school community.

Robotics Tournament Robotics Tournament

by Mr. Haiola

This past weekend we kicked off our new season at Makaha Elementary, located on the west side of Oahu. It was so exciting to see so many families in attendance. The cafeteria was noisy, people were having fun and kids from all over the island were excited to kick things off. Although we had our fair share of bumps and bruises along the way, our kids performed very well, taking home four of the six awards given. It was a great start to the 2022-2023 robotics season.

Preschool: Transportation Preschool: Transportation

Our preschool class has been learning all about different types of transportation as a result of our student interest. As a culminating event at the end of our unit, we had a “Race day”. The kids got to race in their vehicles that we made together.

We played red light/ green light and practiced moving in different ways fast/slow, straight/ swerve, etc.

EOEL: Taking Care of Our Bodies EOEL: Taking Care of Our Bodies

by Mrs. Angelica

We are learning all about the importance of taking care of our bodies! We have been studying healthy and unhealthy foods, learning about the good and bad effects different types of foods can have on our bodies. We all got to pass different fruits and vegetables around to touch and smell, and then got to conduct creative art with them by painting and stamping with them! The students loved this as they got to get messy!

First Grade: Garden Beds First Grade: Garden Beds

We transplanted our sunflower and green beans for our ʻĀINA lessons into our 2 garden beds. The kids planted it when we had our parent activity in September. We also planted some seed straight into the garden bed (sunflower and green beans). Here's a short video of what we did:

New Library Seating New Library Seating

Our 5th grade students are working on a project to encourage our students to use the library more. One of the suggestions was to add more flexible seating to our library.

Thanks to our families for purchasing books last April, we were able to use Scholastic dollars to buy some of the seats from Scholastic.
