The Weekly Update #4
August 22nd, 2025
8th Grade High School Visits
What an exciting week for our 8th graders! They had the chance to explore what Wunsche and Dekaney High School have to offer, and now many of them are already talking about what they’d like to study next year. Parents, we encourage you to keep the conversation going at home—ask your students what they learned and what sparked their interest!
8th graders, check out the high school visit schedule below to see which school is up next. There are so many opportunities waiting for you—don’t miss out!
Hispanic Heritage Spirit Week
Next week we will be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Spirit Week! Each day will have a fun theme (see schedule below). Please remember: all outfits must follow the school dress code. Students who do not follow the dress code may be asked to call home or spend time in ISS. Let’s celebrate our culture with pride and respect!
LOTC 4th Annual Food Can Drive 🥫
Our Leadership Officers Training Corps (LOTC) is kicking off their 4th Annual Food Can Drive this month! Students, families, and staff are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items to support local families in need. Collection bins will be available on campus. Every can counts—let’s come together as a community and make a difference!
Trunk Fest – October 30th 🎃
Parents, don’t forget to fill out the Trunk Fest Google Form if you’d like to donate items or decorate a trunk! This will be our first-ever Trunk Fest and we can’t wait to see the creativity on display. Mark your calendars for October 30th—you won’t want to miss it!

In compliance with Texas Senate Bill 12, we are required to obtain your written consent for your child to receive campus-based, routine health-related services during the 2025–2026 school year.
It is imperative that you complete this form to either opt in or opt out before students return on Tuesday, September 2nd. This will ensure there is no confusion about whether or not your child may be seen by the school nurse or counselors.
👉 If you want to make sure your child can be seen by the nurse or counselor, you must provide consent using the form.

Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter and for helping us keep our Knights safe and supported!
Beginning Monday, September 22, 2025, all students must use their SMART Tag ID badge when getting on and off the school bus. These badges do more than just track ridership—they keep students safe, help buses stay on schedule, and make transportation run smoothly.
Why SMART Tag Badges Matter:
-
Safety: Tracks when and where students get on and off.
-
Records: Keeps families and staff updated with bus details.
-
Time-Saving: Makes loading/unloading faster.
-
Consistency: Ensures everyone follows district policy.
If your student does not yet have a badge, please make sure they receive one this week. If a badge is forgotten, the campus can provide a daily temporary pass (completed by an administrator). Lost or damaged badges will need to be replaced.
Finding Bus Information:
Families can access student bus routes and updates through:
-
My Ride Campus Portal (for General Education routes)
-
Aries Transportation Query (for detailed bus lists)
-
SMART Tag Campus Portal (to view routes, stops, scan logs, and badge status)
For SPED, Choice, or MKV routes, please use the designated Google Forms or contact your campus for support.
Thank you for helping us keep our buses safe, efficient, and on time!
