This year I’m truly learning what it means to find balance as I navigate between my roles at MHS and College and Career Center. My work world has expanded and I’m meeting new students and parents everyday. MHS students/parents/guardians, please know you can set an appointment with me Tuesday-Thursday about post-high school thoughts and plans. Here is the link to the calendar. And while we can meet in the CCC office in Room 20, I’m happy to come back to MHS for any related meetings.

While I’m on the topic, I will be hosting an after school essay support workshops for all MHS/PHS seniors starting this week:

  • Thursday, 9/19/24 in room 47A: Common App prompts

Please review the links to the prompts so you can come ready to work (and bring your charged chromebook).

Naviance: For the first time, we are inviting all students to take advantage of the College Rep Visits coming to campus. These are hosted in room 20. Students are required to sign up through Naviance. Here is a link to the Naviance Guide and a link to how to login. Once students have logged in, click on Colleges, then Visits. Students will see which college reps are visiting and when (class period/time) they will visit.

  1. Seniors have unlimited access to visits,

  2. Juniors have access to 5 visits,

  3. Sophomores/Fresh have access to 2 visits a year.

The one rule to visit is ALL students must get permission from their teacher to attend, at least 24 hours before the visit. So if the visit happens on a Monday, you must get permission by the Friday before in order to attend. After you sign up, print the sheet and have your teacher sign it. This will be your ticket to enter.

Your counselors and teachers need at least 4 weeks notice before your college application deadlines to prepare.

The following colleges will be visiting next week:

Consent Assembly Preview for Parents 9/26 7:00 PM Consent Assembly Preview for Parents 9/26 7:00 PM

Dear Parents/Guardians of 9th and 12th Grade Students,

All community members are invited to Piedmont's Alan Harvey Theater on Thursday, September 26 at 7:00 p.m. to preview the annual Consent Assembly, which will be performed for all 9th and 12th grade students during the Academy period on Friday, September 27.

The assembly has been an important part of Piedmont’s Consent Education for the past 15 years. It features dramatic presentations of Piedmont students’ real accounts of navigating consent and sexual harm. The assembly fosters empathy and critical thinking by showing a variety of perspectives from students – from survivor to perpetrator to bystander. It also promotes a culture of inclusion by exploring various kinds of relationships and inspires students to embrace the values of affirmative consent, allyship, and communication. The assembly culminates in an educational component for students on the meaning and practice of consent.

While the assembly is an important part of consent education, it also evokes emotions for survivors of sexual harm. Please know that counselors will be available before, during, and after the assembly. The Wellness Center will also be open for anyone who needs a safe space.

Parents may excuse their child from the assembly in accordance with Educational Code 51938-39. If you would like your child excused from seeing the assembly on Friday, September 27, please email Kim Taylor at ktaylor@piedmont.k12.ca.us.

We hope to see you at the preview event on Thursday, September 26 at 7:00 p.m. Your partnership is vital as we all work together to create a safer community.

Thank you for your support.

Parent Access to Schoology Parent Access to Schoology

zoom_out_map

By now you should all have access to our Learning Management System, Schoology. If you had logged in to a parent account in Schoology prior to this year, you will be able to access Schoology the same way you have in the past. If you are a new parent to PUSD, or have not accessed Schoology in the past, this week you should have received an email from Schoology with information that includes your username and temporary password, as well as a link that will bring you where you need to go to access Schoology. If you have questions about accessing your account on Schoology, please reach out to Adam Saville (asaville@piedmont.k12.ca.us).

Once you have logged into Schoology, click on your name in the top right hand corner. You should get a drop-down menu that includes your child's name. When you click on their name, you'll then get access to their class information in Schoology, including updates, assignments, and grades. Our school uses Schoology to provide a central location for homework assignments (and digital submissions), grades, class activities, interactive discussions, announcements, and more. The flexible system provides one place for all students, teachers and parents to go for day-to-day classroom information. All homework, major tests, and grades will be posted to it throughout the school year. For more on what you can access when viewing your child's activity in Schoology, click HERE.
