During Fire Safety Week we discussed fire safety, practiced STOP, DROP, and ROLL, practiced our fire drill, and took part in the coloring contest. To end the week we enjoyed a visit from the Collins Fire Department and Smokey the Bear. The Kindergarteners are studying Force in science and are busy building a golf hole to demonstrate different push and pull forces. We are also studying our 5 senses in reading which helps us enjoy our Pick a Better Snack program. This month they read Apple Harvest, students put together apple puzzles, and experienced an apple through their senses. They took a field trip to Hickory Grove Park and enjoyed a discovery hike around the park. Mrs. Haupert, Kindergarten Teacher

Water rocks from Iowa State University will be visiting our 6th and 7th grade science classes on November 10th to discuss ecosystems and biodiversity.

Water Rocks is an award-winning, statewide youth water education campaign based at Iowa State University (ISU). Run through ISU Extension and Outreach, the program combines STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and the arts to teach Iowa youth about water quality, soil conservation, wetlands, and pollinators.

CM Class of 2028 is hosting a general apparel fundraiser. The store is live today and runs through November 15th. We will then be hosting a pickup event on December 5th during the Winter Festival. The location will be in the High School commons area. More details to follow. Thank you in advance for the support!

There is a food pantry currently open for residents of both Maxwell and Collins located at the high school in Maxwell. Right now it is open for visitors on days when the school is open from 7:30AM-4:00PM. In the pantry, there are frozen meats' cheeses, soups, and fruit. There is also a large quantity of other dry goods like canned vegetables, pasta, rice and cereal, etc.

This is open from everyone. If you cannot be here during those hours, please contact us for other arrangements. Please contact Shane Arp at the high school (sarp@cmspartans.org or 515-387-1115) to set up a time to come in.

We want to make sure everyone knows about Nevada Food at First. They are a volunteer organization that will deliver free hot meals that are ready to eat on Monday and Thursday evenings at the Elementary, MS/HS, and at the Rolling Hills Mobile Home Park north of Maxwell.
