Dear Families,

Welcome back to the 2026-2027 School Year! We are so excited to welcome our cubs back to school. We have a wonderful year planned full of learning and community activities. We are so glad you are here with us. This summer we were recognized as a National Gold Star School through the National Association of Elementary School Principals. 220 school applied for this award and Bear Valley was one of 57 schools selected in the United States. It is a testament to the hard work our staff, students and families put in each day to make our school an amazing place to learn and grow. We don't do the work for recognition, but sometimes it's nice to receive a Gold Star!

The first day of school for grades 1-5 is August 19 and we will welcome our kindergarten students on August 26.

We will have our Meet and Greet- Meet the Teacher on Tuesday, August 18 from 3-4. We will have the class lists ready at that time and will let you know who your child's teacher will be. Please find one of our tables at the front of the school for your child's card. It will have their teacher name and room number on it. We are a polling place that day, but voters are asked to use the art room side door during our event. The Meet and Greet is a time to see the classroom, meet the teacher briefly and drop off any school supplies.

In the MPR you will find the PTA with gear for sale and the pre sold school supplies. You will also find the Bear Valley Community Association- SACC and a photo booth for some back to school fun. Don't forget to look for Cubbie, our Bear Valley Cub! On your way home, check out the Dippin' Dots Truck in the bus loop!

Late Start Mondays: We begin school on Mondays at 9:00am. Drop off begins at 8:40am. Staff engage in collaborative team meetings as a part of our Professional Learning Community. This year we do not have the ability to drop any students off early as we do NOT have staff coverage. Please plan accordingly.

Walking students in: To minimize distractions and help students transition in the mornings, we are asking that you drop off students at the door. By September 4, we ask that K families drop off students at the line in the morning to help the student's start the day strong!

Visiting or Volunteering at School: We welcome parent volunteers please make sure you fill out our volunteer form HERE. This form needs to be completed each school year Please remember to bring a government issued photo ID to sign in at our Raptor sign in system in the office.

Open House will take place on Wednesday, September 2 from 6:00-7:30, this will be a time for you to learn about your child's grade level, see the classroom and talk with the teacher more in depth.

Please see the ASD Cell Phone Policy video below. Cell phones and smart watches cannot be used during the school day. These devices need to be in airplane mode or off and placed in backpacks. Please keep in mind, the best place for these items for elementary students is at home.

Bus Information! ASD uses the program StopFinder! This is an app that will allow you to track your child's bus information, route, etc. Find more information here and download the app today. https://www.asdk12.org/Page/21184
