Hello Warrior Families,

As we approach the end of the first semester, I want to take a moment to thank you for your incredible support and partnership during these first months of the school year. It has been an honor to serve as the principal of West Minico Middle School and to get to know your amazing students.

One of my favorite parts of each day has been greeting students during morning drop-off and seeing their energy and enthusiasm as they arrive. Another highlight has been being outside during lunch, connecting with students in a more relaxed environment and seeing their personalities shine. These moments truly reinforce how special our school community is.

Thank you for entrusting us with your children and for supporting their education. I am looking forward to a strong finish to the semester and continuing to grow together as a Warrior family.

Introducing Securly Pass: Our New E-Hall Pass System Introducing Securly Pass: Our New E-Hall Pass System

zoom_out_map

Beginning next semester, West Minico will implement Securly Pass, an e-hall pass system designed to improve classroom efficiency and address some of the challenges we’ve experienced with restroom use.

Currently, restrooms have become one of the biggest areas of concern in our school. At times, we have multiple students leaving class simultaneously, and it appears that restroom visits are occasionally being used as an opportunity to avoid classwork or to use cell phones, which are not allowed during class time.

With Securly Pass, students will request permission to leave the classroom digitally. To help manage hallway traffic, only a limited number of students will be allowed out of class at a time, so requests may occasionally sit in a queue for a few minutes. For students with specific medical or other needs requiring immediate restroom access, we will set up the system to allow for automatic approval. Of course, emergencies will always be handled immediately, with no delay.

We know this new system will be a learning curve for both students and teachers as we begin the implementation process. However, we believe it will significantly reduce the amount of time students spend out of the classroom and enhance safety by allowing us to know exactly where students are when they are not in class.

To support our existing cell phone policy, students will also be required to leave their phones in the classroom before exiting for any reason, including restroom use.

We are confident that Securly Pass will help create a more structured and focused learning environment for all students. Thank you for your support as we work together to make this positive change at West Minico!

At West Minico, we know that every day in school counts. Consistent attendance is essential for student success and helps ensure that students stay on track with their learning. We ask for your support in encouraging your child to attend school every day, especially as we approach the end of the semester. Missing just one day can make a big difference, so let’s work together to ensure our students finish the semester strong.

If your child is absent, please make sure they are catching up on any missed assignments. We also encourage you to reach out if you have any concerns about your student's attendance, and we’re here to assist in making sure they stay engaged and succeed.

Thank you for helping us make attendance a priority!
