Dear Largo High School Community,

Colleagues, I greet you with “Den Pride!” I hope you have each enjoyed a summer filled with rest, renewal, and some of your favorite activities. I am excited to officially welcome you back for the 2025–2026 school year, and Largo High School's 57th year of existence of educational service!

At Largo High School, our mission is to provide a high-quality instructional program and a vibrant school culture grounded in our vision and mission, with an intentional focus on living out these anchoring statements through stellar customer service. Our vision is for students to become empowered lifelong learners and productive citizens in a global society. Our mission is to create an inclusive community where all students are nurtured, engaged, and challenged to reach their potential through the tenets of Leadership, Integrity, Optimism, and Nobility (L.I.O.N.). Together, we remain committed to our long-term goal of becoming a five-star school in Maryland. Guided by the Maryland State Report Card, district initiatives, and stakeholder feedback, our data-driven efforts will continue to focus on:

  • School Safety and Culture

  • Academic Achievement

  • School Quality and Success

  • Graduation Rate

  • Readiness for Post-Secondary Success

We are also excited to share several program enhancements this year. We will welcome the third phase of our Language Immersion Program, expanding Spanish, French, and Chinese instruction to 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. Our Advisory Period will be offered bi-weekly, with two strands, to strengthen support for our students’ social and emotional learning needs. Additionally, 17 new members will join the Largo Family, bringing fresh energy and expertise to advance our instructional program.

Important Dates:

  • August 21 – We will have a Community Meet and Greet with the Largo administration and select staff from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Additionally, first-time 9th grade and senior parents will meet at 6:00 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room and Gymnasium for grade-level specific events.

  • August 25 – Transition Day for incoming 9th graders. This day is designed to help students navigate the building, meet teachers/classmates, and learn Largo’s expectations for success.

  • August 26 – First Day of School. Hours: 7:30 a.m.–2:10 p.m.
  • September 3 - Labor Day - PGCPS Schools and Offices are closed
  • September 10 – Back to School Night for grades 9–12. Grade-level sessions begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the main meeting.

This year, we have launched the Largo High School Instagram page — follow us at @prideofLargo to celebrate our students and school community. Please also sign up for this year’s Largo Principal's Remind Group

Our theme for this year is "100-Percent Pride" — a call for alignment, deeper accountability, high expectations and closing gaps as we commit to serving all students with maximum effort from all stakeholders.

As summer comes to a close and we return to “The Den,” I am energized by the possibilities ahead — for each of us individually and for our school and community. I look forward to welcoming you back and making this school year one to remember.

In pride,

Albert T. Lewis
Principal

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures for Largo

Largo High School implements two lanes for drop-offs in the morning. The right lane is for school buses and critical transportation only, while the left lane is full car riders. If you are a car rider, we ask that you quickly exit the vehicle, and proceed forward so as not to create a backup along Landover Road. In the afternoon, car riders will be picked up in the parking lot on the side of Largo high school that is adjacent to Prince George's Community College between 2:10 and 2:45 p.m. We appreciate your support and adherence to ensuring that we have safe arrival for students and staff in the mornings
