As We Look Ahead
It feels wild to say, but we are almost at the end of another school year!
The 2021-22 school year will wrap up with graduations sprinkled through the first week of June and the rest of our students will be done for the summer on Friday, June 10th. (Don't forget: This is a half day in-person for students!) We have posted graduation times, locations, and livestream links on our website.
I think I can speak for the entirety of the ACPS staff when I say we are incredibly proud of the dedication and resiliency our students continue to show us every day. The last few years haven't exactly been easy, but our students have faced adversity with courage and adaptability.
I, for one, cannot wait to see our graduating seniors gathered in their caps and gowns to celebrate the hard work that they have put in — not only for the last four years, but for the entire time they have been with us here at ACPS. I know each and every student that takes that walk across the stage has great things in store.
I believe I also would be remiss if I didn't take a moment to reflect on the terrible tragedy that occurred at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. The loss of so much young life is nearly impossible to bear, and we continue to keep them in our thoughts. We take the safety of our staff and students very seriously at ACPS, and have outlined the steps that we take to protect our buildings in this community message on Safety and Security.
Sincerely,
Dr. Matthew S. Haas, Superintendent

Parent Perspective
This month, we hear from Akanksha Meyer, the president of the SRES PTO.
My name is Akanksha Meyer and I am the PTO president for Stone Robinson Elementary for the 2021-22 school year. I have found that being part of the PTO board is one of the best ways to be involved with my children's school.
The PTO is an organization that provides resources and support to our school's students and teachers by providing supplemental funding directly to classrooms, subsiding field trips, and planning social events for the entire school community. While the past few years have been challenging, the PTO has still been able to do things such as teacher appreciation, camp for real, school wide book events, and an outdoor movie night.
Our outdoor movie night in April was a big hit with the students, and a reminder of how much we have missed being together in person as a community! As we finish out this year, the entire SRES PTO is extremely excited about starting a more normal school year in the fall and an opportunity to increase PTO involvement in the school with more events and enrichment options.
If you'd like to learn more about the SRES PTO, visit their website.
