Congratulations to Mrs. Anita Robinson on being named Fifth Avenue’s Teacher of the Year!
Please join me in congratulating our 4th-grade teacher, Mrs. Anita Robinson, on being named our 2026–2027 Teacher of the Year!
Mrs. Robinson is a veteran educator who brings decades of knowledge and experience to her classroom each day. She is truly “all-in-Decatur,” having attended Decatur City Schools as a student before completing her studies at Agnes Scott College and going on to become a fully certified teacher. Her compassion, dedication, and genuine love for others are evident in all that she does, making her incredibly deserving of this recognition.

Fifth Avenue Upper Elementary: Grounded in Kindness, Empathy, and Love
As we conclude Black History Month, I'd like to pause and reflect on the words of Martin Luther King Jr.: "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."
His message serves as a powerful reminder of the responsibility we share to lead with kindness, compassion, and love—especially toward our students, who are both our most precious and most vulnerable. Each day, they walk through our doors filled with hope, curiosity, and aspiration. It is up to us to nurture that hope and help fill their cups with encouragement and joy.
If you notice your child is having a difficult moment or needs additional support, please do not hesitate to reach out to our school counselors. They are equipped with a wealth of resources and are ready to assist in any way needed.
As we enter the final quarter of the school year, let us recommit ourselves to fostering a community grounded in kindness, empathy, and love.
