Beckwith Bulletin

October 24, 2025
BMS Community,
It was another busy and exciting week at Beckwith! We kicked things off with the 5th Grade Bash on Monday, which was a great time filled with karaoke, unlimited recess, board games, drawing, and a movie.
On Tuesday, students smiled for Picture Day, and the rest of the week was full of school spirit!
-
Wednesday: Blue and White Spirit Day 💙🤍 — students and staff proudly wore our school colors and the campus was buzzing with home Unified and Cross Country matches after school.
-
Thursday: Unity Day 🧡— our community wore orange to promote kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.
-
Friday: Pink Out Day 💗— students and staff showed their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month while helping to raise funds for the Linda Sousa – A Better Dream Foundation.
Looking ahead, next Wednesday, October 30th, is Green and Gold Night at DRRHS 💚💛 from 6:00–8:00 p.m. This special annual event is for all grade 7 and 8 students and their families — a great opportunity to learn more about our high school!

HOLIDAY DReams 2025
October 24, 2025
Dear DR Families,
The holidays are just around the corner — and we’re excited to announce that Holiday DReams 2025 is officially underway!
Once again, the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District is partnering with the Greater Attleboro Council for Children to bring joy and comfort to local families through the Christmas is for Kids program. This wonderful initiative helps ensure that every child in our community experiences the warmth of the season with gifts and winter essentials.
Important Dates:
Families who have previously participated in Holiday DReams or Christmas is for Kids must apply by Friday, November 8, 2025.
Families who are new to the program have until Friday, November 22, 2025.
Applications are available at each school and at the Superintendent’s Office, or you can download one online. Please be sure to return your completed application with all required documentation in a sealed envelope by the appropriate deadline.
If you would like to support this effort, donations are welcome! Your generosity helps us make DReams come true for even more children this year.
To apply for gifts and clothing, please visit this link to a Google Folder with instructions and an application.
To learn more or donate, please visit www.councilforchildren.org.
If you have questions, feel free to reach out to me directly at bruney@drregional.org.
Thank you for helping us spread kindness and hope this holiday season.
Together, we are DR!
GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH
We are still seeking a coach for our girls basketball team. This is a stipended position, and we'd love to have someone enthusiastic about working with student athletes. If you're interested, CLICK HERE to fill out an application on SchoolSpring. Practices are usually on Tuesday and Thursday and games are usually on Monday and Wednesday. CLICK HERE for the full basketball schedule.
ATTENDANCE REMINDER
Please remember that your student’s presence is powerful. It is our goal to ensure all students are here in school every day and with your help, we can make that happen!
This is just a friendly reminder to call the office when your student will be absent. This is not an excused absence unless we receive a note from a service provider. You can email that note or have your student bring it right to the office.
Additionally, Massachusetts State Law states that 8 absences in a quarter (about 45 days) is considered habitually truant. If your student is absent and you or they require assistance for any reason, please let us know. The full attendance policy can be seen as you read further in the SMORE.
A WORD FROM PE
A fun-filled fall in PE!
This year, BMS is up and running with a theme of "Your Presence is Powerful!" This theme from DESE not only highlights the "vital connection between student attendance and academic/social success," but also stresses the importance of students choosing to be upstanders, supporting one another to create a culture where everyone feels valued and safe. Engagement creates transformation in our school community, and we invite you to be present as well by volunteering and attending events. When we are all actively present, we have the ability to create positive meaningful change in our school community.
KINDNESS E-WALL
We follow the same procedure above for Pickup. The School Day ends at 2:30 p.m. (dismissal begins at this time).
SCHOOL CAFETERIA INFORMATION
School breakfast and lunch will once again be provided free of charge to all students; however, all students must use the point-of-sale system to obtain their free lunch. Please encourage your child to remember their lunch PIN number, as this helps speed up the lunch lines. If a student forgets their PIN, the cafeteria staff need to look it up, which can cause delays. Please note that only breakfast will be served on early release days.
Additionally, please see below for a letter from Whitson's with instructions on setting up a MySchoolBucks account, which is required for purchasing snacks. This letter also includes information about the cafeteria's interactive menu and relevant contact details.

STUDENT ABSENCE PROCEDURE
Thank you for notifying us when your child will be absent. Please note that while these notifications prevent you from receiving an automated call from the district, they do not excuse the absence.
School attendance and punctuality are strongly linked to academic success. Time spent in class is invaluable and cannot be fully replicated by simply providing the absent student with missed work. Frequent absences can create gaps in a student's education that may affect them for years to come. For more information on attendance and absences, please review the Student Handbook.
To report your student's absence, please call the 24/7 Absence Line by the start of the school day (8:15 a.m.). Leave a message with your child's name and the reason for the absence. You can reach the Absence Line by calling 508-252-5080 and pressing 1. Alternatively, you may email the Main Office at bmsattendance@drregional.org by 8:15 a.m. This email address can also be used to report tardies or dismissals.
Families of students marked as having an unexcused absence who do not call the Absence Line or email the above address by 8:15 a.m. will receive a phone call, text message, and email notification from the District at 9:15 a.m., prompting them to confirm the absence with the Main Office as soon as possible.
All absences are considered unexcused except for the following: student medical appointment/illness/quarantine (with a doctor's note), bereavement, family emergencies, observance of major religious holidays, inclement weather that endangers the child's health, court appearances, out-of-school suspension, disability-related absences, and unique circumstances approved at the Principal's discretion. In cases of chronic or irregular absences reported to be due to illness, the school administration may request a physician's statement certifying the absences as justifiable.
Please arrange for doctor's notes to be sent to the Main Office via fax at 508-252-5082 or via email at bmsattendance@drregional.org.

CLOTHES AND SHOES RECYCLE BIN
We've partnered with Clothes Bin to maintain a clothes and shoes recycling bin on the Beckwith campus. They collect, manage, and distribute clothes, shoes, and textiles. If you have any clothes or shoes that could be recycled, please feel free to drop them in the bin located at the far end of the parking lot. Beckwith Middle School receives funds for donated contents. To learn more about Clothes Bin, please CLICK HERE.
