Dear Hardy Families,

Can you believe it is September? As much as I wish for fall, September is one of our hottest months at school. As a reminder, please send your child with a labeled water bottle and cool/loose-fitting clothing. If temperatures reach the CDPH guidelines for a heat advisory, we will move to indoor recesses. Our lunch times are in the 11:00 hour, and, so far, we have only seen temperatures in the low 80s at that time.

You don't need to cook dinner tomorrow! Join our first Dad’s Club meeting (6:30p) and Family Dine Out at Woodstock Pizza, see the flyer in the PTA and Dad’s Club section below. On Thursday at 8:00 am, we are hosting a school tour. Please call the front office to register, and spread the word to your friends.

On Friday, we will celebrate our first Family Friday of the year, starting in the courtyard for our assembly, following your child into the classroom for a read-aloud, and then joining us in the auditorium for the Principal Chat and the general PTA meeting.

SSC and SGT election ballots go out tomorrow, please vote by Friday, and thank you to everyone who submitted nominations.

Looking to next week, on Friday, September 12, Dad’s Club Movie Night begins at 6:00 pm. Please note that the kinder playground is off limits during after-school events.

Friday, September 19, is an additional minimum day and our first Lunch With Your Loves on the minimum day schedule. Families are welcome to picnic in the courtyard after dismissal. The blacktop parking lot will be open from 12:00 to 1:00, then return to a construction entrance at 1:00. We didn't want to eliminate this fun event in construction, so thank you for your patience as we reinvent how to continue this fun tradition.

Back-to-School Night slides are below for anyone who missed them!

With gratitude,
Mrs. Aragon

Morning Arrival and Tardies

Tardy update: we continue to see late arrivals. Please plan ahead, Montezuma traffic can be tricky. Gates open at 7:20 with almost no wait. The first bell is 7:40 and students may go straight to class, the late bell is 7:45 and students arriving at or after 7:45 must enter through the office for a late pass. Arriving on time helps your child start with peers, join morning routines, and protect instructional minutes.

Leadership Applications due Wednesday, September 3 at 3:00 PM

We are thrilled to open applications for our Hardy student leadership teams today. Thank you for your patience, as I am sending this a day later than planned. There are two Google Forms, one for grades 1–2, and one for grades 3–5. Please complete the form that matches your child’s grade. We ask that you support your student with the form as needed, while ensuring your child answers in their own voice.

Applications are due Wednesday, September 3 at 3:00 pm. Students should select their top three leadership choices, we anticipate that not all students will receive their first choice, and we will do our best to place every interested student in a meaningful role.
