Holy Rosary School Derby
NEWSLETTER / TERM 4/ Week 9/ Friday 12th December
Message From Miss Melanie
We have had an amazing end to the year and we want to thank all of our families for supporting us in educating your children. Our overall attendance for the year was about 80% which is a wonderful achievement and as a result overall student achievement has improved with some outstanding growth from some students. Congratulations everyone on this amazing effort.
Our Christmas Concert was a great success. Thank you to all the families who supported our fundraiser through purchasing a meal. We raised over $1200 and this will go towards the completion of our playground upgrade in early 2026. Also a big thank you to the staff for preparing the students so well to perform on the night.
The final Thanksgiving Mass and our Awards Ceremony was well attended by families and we acknowledged some great progress from students across the school in their academic pursuits, we also honoured those students who have demonstrated consistently the Holy Rosary School values. Thank you to Mr Peter Mc Cumstie, Shire President, for supporting the morning and helped with the presentation of our awards. Also a big thank you to CWA Derby for the Citizenship Award, presented by Mary Nankivell.
Best wishes to our staff and families who will not be returning to Holy Rosary in 2026. Finally, have a safe and happy Christmas and New Year and we look forward to seeing all your smiling faces when school returns in 2026.
God Bless.
Miss Melanie
Rejoicing Religion
Any families who would like their child/children to participate in the Sacraments in 2026 please contact Admin as soon as possible so that we can lock in dates with the Broome Diocese.
If you would like your child to participate and they have not been Baptised, please let Jenna in Admin know and we will organise contact from the Broome Diocese to allow for you to start the Sacramental process.
Christmas Concert
Thank you to Miss Caroline and Miss Bec for coordinating our 2025 Christmas Concert. It was an amazing night and students performed so well. Thank you to all the families who helped clean up so that we could be packed up before the rain started. Check out some pictures from the night.
Year 6 Graduation
Our Year 6 students celebrated their graduation on Thursday 11th December with a fantastic presentation, speeches and a great lunch. Miss Madi and Miss Sharelle organised lovely gifts of a framed photo for a keepsake memory of their time at Holy Rosary School. We wish our graduants all the best for the exciting step into high school.
Christmas Hampers
Thank you to all the families who donated dry food goods for our Year 5/6 students to organise hampers to be donated to Marnin Bowa Dumbara Family Healing Centre. Thank you to Miss Madi and Miss Sharelle for supporting the students to make these hampers and deliver them to the centre on our last day of school.
Staff Farewells
We wish Miss Madi all the best for her new school in 2026. Miss Madi will be moving to Carnarvon where she will be teaching a Year 5 class at St Mary Star of the Sea.
Miss Maka will be leaving Holy Rosary to work in other areas in Derby. We will hopefully see her for some relief work when she is able to fit us into her busy schedule.
Miss Tara will be leaving us to move to Perth with her family. We wish her and her family all the best for the move.
We thanks Miss Madi and Miss Maka for their wonderful contribution to our Holy Rosary community and wish them success in their new adventures.
eRideables
Holy Rosary School is committed to ensuring that our students are empowered to travel to and from school safely. We recognise that eRideable devices such as eScooters and eBikes are a popular mode of transport accessible to many within our School/ College community. Equally, our School/ College recognises that eRideables are subject to legislation that prohibit a child under the age of 16 from utilising these devices.
Therefore, from Monday 2 February 2026, students who are under 16 years of age will not be permitted to use or store an eRideable device on school premises. Examples of eRideables include but are not limited to: • eScooters • eSkateboards • hoverboards • eSkates • eUnicycles
The Road Safety Commission has developed a webpage with information about the Road Traffic Code (legislation) which can assist individuals in understanding their personal obligations where eRideables are concerned.
For more information about eRideables please click the link below.. We thank you in advance for your support of this initiative which will ensure the ongoing safety of our students and broader school community.
2026 School Fees
We have finalised our 2026 school fees and due to the increase in costs we have had to increase our fees for 2026, however, we have kept the increase as low as possible. Family discounts apply and families are still able to apply for discounted fees through a concession card. Those families who pay through Centrepay will still be able to make payments in 2026.
