The Pritchett Post -- 10/30/26
Home of the Panthers!
– Sydney J. Harris
Dear Pritchett Families,
Our Pritchett Panthers had an amazing Halloween! The weather cooperated with us and gave us ideal conditions for our parade. What a great sight to see! This was followed by the Halloween classroom parties. The costumes were fantastic! Special thanks to our PTO for providing money for the Halloween parties and for arranging our parent room helpers! Enjoy the pictures throughout the newsletter.
At Pritchett Elementary, we love seeing our Panthers use their imaginations to dream up new ideas and solve everyday problems. That is why we are excited to highlight Creativity, a core trait in our District 102 Portrait of a Graduate. Starting in November, when teachers spot students showing creativity in action, they will write up a quick note about what the student did. I will read these special shout-outs over the intercom during our morning announcements so the entire school can celebrate them. Each highlighted student will also receive a yellow "Creativity" wristband to wear with pride. Thank you for partnering with us as we encourage our young learners to think boldly and express their unique ideas!
Take care and be well,
Dr. Moreland -- Principal

Second Step Update
This week we began Unit 2 of Second Step® Elementary, a research-based social-emotional learning program designed to improve children’s social-emotional skills. Second Step skills and concepts are designed to help children both in and out of school. In Unit 2, Emotion Management, children will learn how to identify and label emotions and use emotion-management strategies—including stress management for older students—to calm strong feelings. Click below on your child's grade-level to learn more about this important unit!

A Note from the Nurse
Hello Pritchett families,
Students are getting sick! Please see the drop down for "Should My Child Stay Home From School?" on the Health Services website if you are not sure if they should stay home. If your student will be absent, please leave a voicemail at our attendance line at (847)353-5703. Students should be fever free (<100F) for 24 hours without use of fever-reducing medications; and vomiting/diarrhea free for 24 hours before coming to school.
We do request notification if your student tests positive for a communicable disease. Please email plowe@d102.org or leave a message on the attendance line at (847)353-5703. Notifications of communicable diseases will be sent through this family newsletter. I notify families if there are two or more cases of a disease in a grade level.
Finally, please see the excusal chart for physical education class below. If you have any questions please see the district website on restrictions.

Change in Transportation
For example, if your child takes the bus every day and you are picking them up for a doctor's appointment at 2:30, please send a note that morning. In an 'emergency' situation you may send an email to Ms. Barraza via email at ibarraza@d102.org. Unfortunately, we will not be able to honor any emails/calls after 3 pm.
FIRSTact Bus Monitoring System
First Student has implemented a new bus monitoring system called FIRSTacts. This system quickly and efficiently captures inappropriate behavior and instantly shares it with Dr. Moreland and Mrs. Robinson. Students who are reported will receive communication through email regarding their child's misconduct. Various disciplinary measures will be issued including suspension from riding the school bus.
To ensure the safest transportation possible for all of our students, please take a moment to review the following bus etiquette with your child:
- Remain seated, facing forward
- K-3 students must sit in their assigned seat
- No eating or drinking on the bus
- Use inside voices
If you have specific questions about FIRSTActs please reach out to our Director of Transportation, Ms. Denise Koto (dkoto@d102.org) or First Student.
