The Weekly Hoot
April 3, 2026
Our second One School, One Book Friday of activities was certainly not a quiet morning; instead, it was an amazing morning filled with sound. We want to extend a big THANK YOU to Mr. Lowy and three of his 8th-grade trumpeters for entertaining us with beautiful renditions of "Taps" and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." They played wonderfully and provided great information on how sound is produced through the trumpet. The activities that followed were also full of musical sound, and we encourage you to ask your kids what their favorite activity was from the day.
Spring has sprung, and we have enjoyed a few warm days to start off mud season. However, we currently have a lot of wet, muddy areas on the playground. Please be sure to send your students to school with boots—either winter or rain boots—so they do not have restrictions on where they can play. Hopefully, it won't take too long for the grounds to dry out.
Starting Monday, April 6, 2026, we will bring back outdoor morning recess. The students will be outside until 8:35 am, so please ensure your children are dressed appropriately for the day's weather.
I hope you have a great weekend.

Jumping High in PE
Our skill this week was jump roping. Jump roping is a great all-body exercise that develops coordination, strength, and cardiovascular fitness. Students were able to practice their individual jumping skills by utilizing a variety of jumping games and activities such as hula hoop hopscotch, hurdles, skip sticks, long jump rope, the thunder stick, and more. Throughout the week, we discussed perseverance and that we can do hard things but it takes practice. Practice makes progress and progress was made in our students’ jump roping skills this week! Perhaps the Easter bunny might deliver some jump ropes this weekend?
