Jamie Ganske, CVHS Principal, provided an overview of the school’s graduation pathway programs, along with Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG), which has been offered at CVHS since 2021. JAG supports students at risk of not graduating, helping them earn a diploma and prepare for career success. The program tracks outcomes for one year after graduation, defining success as full-time employment, education, military service, or a combination—while earning a sustainable wage. Brayden Greene (junior) and Isaiah Kini (senior) also shared how JAG has positively impacted their academic and career opportunities; click here for more information.
Keeping Our Schools Safe
Joe Nelson, Chi-Hi Dean of Students, highlighted district-level safety initiatives aimed at strengthening prevention efforts, expanding response capabilities, and increasing community awareness and involvement. He plays a key role in facilitating Behavioral Threat Assessments at the high school and serves as a primary resource for administrators conducting assessments in their own buildings. A Behavioral Threat Assessment is initiated when a potential or known threat is reported to school officials or through SUSO. Using guidance, flowcharts, and planning tools provided by the Wisconsin Department of Justice, school officials work to determine whether a student of concern poses a significant threat or has made a statement of concern. This structured process supports early identification and intervention, with the goal of preventing situations from escalating to violence. CFAUSD is also a member of the Chippewa County School Threat Assessment Coalition (STAC), a multi-agency partnership that shares resources and training to enhance school safety; click here for more information.
