Calvary Moravian Church Weekly
Watchword for the Week
For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. ~ 1 Corinthians 1:18
Reminder: Church Council - THIS SUNDAY!
This Sunday, February 1st, we will gather for our annual Church Council Meeting immediately following the worship service. As is our tradition, we will also have a potluck lunch! Since we have not been able to gather in person these last two weekends, our sign up sheet for food is looking a little bare. It would be incredibly helpful if you know what you are bringing, to please include it in the digital sign-up linked below.
Additionally, in case there are any concerns about parking, our volunteer crew of snow removal folks did an awesome job clearing the parking lot and almost all of the street parking around the church (as well as the sidewalks!) so there is plenty of parking to accommodate everyone our annual meeting.
A digital copy of the annual report is also linked below. If anyone has any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Pastor Mikayla or the Church Office.
Fourth Sunday after the Epiphany - February 1, 2026

Do you have a prayer request you would like shared during our prayers of the people portion of our service? If so, please contact Pastor Mikayla at revmikayla@gmail.com or fill out this form by Saturday to get your prayer request or praise included! Please make sure to get permission before submitting a request on behalf of someone else.

The Calvary Comfort Food Challenge - March 1st after Worship
Calvary is bringing back our Conversation Church Worship gathering on March 1st this year, and to keep the fellowship time going we are having a potluck lunch, with a twist, to follow!
Join us after worship on Sunday, March 1st, for a potluck meal full of good food, good company, and a little friendly fun!
We’re hosting our first Comfort Food Challenge, and everyone is invited to participate, whether by cooking, tasting, or cheering others on. Those who wish to enter the challenge may choose one (or both!) of the following categories:
-
Comfort Food Main Dish
-
Comfort Food Dessert
Think of the foods that feel like home; dishes that warm the heart, bring back memories, or simply make a hard day better.
Best of all, this is an event where everybody wins… but a few people will win twice! Whether you bring a dish or just bring your appetite, there’s a place for you at the table. Come share a meal, enjoy the fun, and celebrate community together.
Sign ups and more details to follow in February! For any specific questions, contact Pastor Mikayla or the Congregation and Community Engagement Team (Formerly known as the Outreach Committee).

Moravian Women's Groups
Our Moravian Women groups offer a wonderful opportunity for fellowship each month now that we are into the fall months! We are currently exploring The Difficult Words of Jesus by Amy-Jill Levine, a thoughtful resource that invites us to wrestle honestly with Jesus’ challenging teachings. We are using both her book and some short videos from AJ herself to guide our conversations.
If you are interested in joining, we have two groups that meet in the first week of each month:
Afternoon Group: Wednesday, February 4 at 1:00 PM
Meets in person during the afternoon in the conference room!
Evening Group: Monday, February 2 at 7:30 PM – on Zoom

We are always welcoming new folks to come join us for a discussion of scripture and how we can bring it into our everyday lives. The group is led by our Vice Chair of Elders, Jeff Diehl, and we tend to meet in the sanctuary, up toward the baptismal font. We hope to see you there!
Midweek Bible Study
All are invited to join us for Bible Study each Thursday at 10:00 AM! We meet in person and online, so even if you are not able to participate in person, we would love for you to join our discussion!

Due to the holiday season and then our Church Council, we will not be offering Family Sunday School in January or February, but we will resume on March 1st.
We Are Updating Our Directory!
As we prepare for the new year, we’re excited to update and expand our Church Directory!
Please help us by sending your current contact information, including your phone number, email address, and physical mailing address, to the church office.
Please email your contact information, even if nothing has changed.
This year, we’re also adding a special new section highlighting the professional and personal masteries and interests of our members. Whether it’s a skill, a passion, or an area of expertise, sharing these gifts can help strengthen the connections within our congregation. Participation is completely voluntary, and we’d love to include your photo as well! You may submit a favorite recent photo you already have, or join us on one of our upcoming photo days after worship (dates to be announced soon) to have one taken here at the church. Thank you for helping us create a directory that celebrates the people and gifts that make our church family so special!
The dates we will have someone available for photos after worship are:
· December 7th
· December 21st
Please send your updates and photos to: churchcalvarymoravian@gmail.com with the subject “Directory” and your last name(s).

Ways to Give to the Ministries at Calvary
As reminder, there are several different ways to give your offerings here at Calvary.
- Bring your offering to Sunday worship.
- Mail your offering to the church office at 948 N. 21st Street, Allentown, PA 18104.
- Use your bank’s “BILL PAY” service. A one-time or recurring payment can be made by a bank on your behalf. Banks that offer this service typically cut a check and mail it to the church at no cost to you. Contact your bank for details. The bank usually asks for an account number. Just call Calvary office beforehand and Jess will supply an account number to you or just use your envelope number.
- Make an online payment through the Moravian Giving Portal – https://mmfa.info/giving-portal/. Go to this link, click on our church’s name and follow the instructions to make a one-time gift or a recurring monthly gift. Donations can be made by members and non-members via direct debit of a bank account or by credit card. All donation processing fees for portal gifts are now paid by the Moravian Ministries Foundation – your full donation will be received by your church.
