THE CCS NEWSLETTER
Charlotte Central School - May 8, 2026
CCS Community,
Last night’s CCS PTO Variety Show was magical. The MPR was filled with energy, laughter, applause, and so much creativity — from dance and music to comedy, skits, and more.
Please take a moment with your child or children to watch or rewatch a performance or two. Here is the program, and the livestream link is now available as a recording as well.
Take care,
Tim & Beth

Even better, there just happened to be seven senior players waiting to match up with these seven CCS students. 💕 What a wonderful afternoon of strategy, connection, and community across generations.

School Library News
The library recently welcomed 7th & 8th graders to participate in a book tasting. The theme - mystery books. The goal - sample lots of books in a short amount of time to find something of interest. Students rotated through tables of books set up in café style, built their own menus of possibilities, and ranked their top choices. Rather than being told what to read or just being presented with a shelf of books, this activity allows students to choose what they like while practicing selection skills. What does the blurb say? Do the first few paragraphs hook you in as a reader? What is the format of the book? Does it have short or long chapters? Does it include cool features like maps or illustrations? It's like sampling new foods. You're not going to like everything you try, but you might just be surprised by what you do enjoy!
Gone Guys: A CCS Screening & Discussion
Wednesday, May 13 @6:30p, Jessica Phelan and Amy Sayre of CVSD Connecting Youth invite all community members to a screening and discussion of Gone Guys. The film is Vermont-produced and explores the growing disengagement of boys and young men from school, work, and community life. After the screening, there will be a facilitated discussion focused on identity, connection and re-engagement of our young men through local supports and resources.
Check out the trailer and we hope you will join us for this important event. Light refreshments will be served.
