Weekly STAR Family Updates

Good afternoon STAR Parents. This is Mrs. Traumuller, the proud Morehead Principal, with the weekly updates and reminders for the week ahead.

All of our announcements will be place under the "School News" section of our Website (towards the bottom), on Class Dojo, Facebook, Twitter, and the GCS Parent App.

Tomorrow, Monday, November 17th, Fall make up pictures will be held from 8 - 10 am. This is only for students who missed the original day and is really important as these are the pictures that will be used for our yearbook. On Tuesday, Mr. Kight and our awesome team of specialists will be hosting Stack Up Day! Such a fun day for our students as they rotate through various stacking events using the skills that they have learned with Mr. Kight in the past few weeks. Tuesday will also be a musical rehearsal date if your STAR is in the musical. On Wednesday, our fifth grade students head off to their annual trip to Camp Hanes! Please make sure that you are on time to school with all of your belongings needed so that the buses can leave on time. Friday, all of the Original Works orders are due if you would like them in time for the holidays.

Looking ahead to next week, we only have school on Monday and Tuesday. The remainder of the week will be off to allow for families to celebrate Thanksgiving with family and friends.

Please know that if your family has SNAP benefits and you need help or support, please make reach out to the school. Our PTA and social worker have come together to support our families in these uncertain times. If we can help in any way - please let us know. Please know that your Morehead Family supports you and your families during this time.

Attendance is SUPER important and has a huge impact on student learning outcomes.

• School Day Attendance is important for student success. Did you know...
1. Students who miss just two days of school each month end up missing nearly 20 days in a school year — that’s almost a full month of learning!

2. Being on time matters! Arriving just 10 minutes late each day adds up to nearly a full week of missed instruction by the end of the year.

3. Students who attend school regularly are more likely to read on grade level by 3rd grade and succeed in middle and high school.

4. Good attendance builds strong routines, friendships, and confidence — setting children up for success now and in the future.

Looking ahead:

• Please make sure that you review and return the first quarter report cards indicating if you would like a conference to discuss the grades and progress of your child.
